funny fact: In Croatia, Pirate party was founded about month ago (supporting internet piracy and going against copyright, like in Sweden, Germany and other countrys). but there's one problem: They don't have much to do since Piracy is already legal here (as longs as you don't make money on it). No point in fighting it, since in Croatia, 95% of all digital content is pirated. (meaning, everyone does it, so it's aether put everyone to jail, or find way to make money out of piracy.. that second thing is what software developers, musicians and film making companies did here). So, one of simplest solution what has happened in Croatia: internet bills go up (for amount of 20kn which is about 3-4USD), you do whatever you want, that extra money goes to movie, music and software industry. ISP will have numbers of what content was pirated most by their users, and they will give that much money to company that was pirated the most. music, filming and software industry get money (they will get money form you even if you didn't pirate anything from them, but someone else did), you still get to do whatever you want. everyone wins.
If they do this, wouldn't this also get rid of indie musicians who have their start online. Also what about the bands that give away free music?
If they get rid of indie musicians they're getting rid of the already crumbling individualism in our society. Then, like I said, there will be a civil war. I bad one I can imagine, because we can make worse weapons than we had during the previous civil war. And with people like me being pacifists I'd be torn because I'd be passionate enough to fight but I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to kill another human being or even injure on purpose...
This violates our rights. I don't see it passing, but there are "bags" who are in government trying to find ways to slip this stuff past the people like school principals and boards try to slip getting rid of the right to eat off high school campuses and school uniforms, and getting rid of any and all fun past parents and students because they think it'll make the school look like an institution. If we're not watchful, the impact bills like this will have on our freedom will be truly disasterous to not only the net and ourselves, but to the economy as a whole.
I feel that they're dangerous because we're slowing becoming a society that was all about free will and being your own person to a place where the government owns you and what you do.
I'll just bump this thread with an extra bit of news. http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/11/the-sopa-act-continues-to-get-dirtier/
I believe this may be relevant. :/ I just felt that it may be about time to inject something Other than grim resolve and unhappiness into the Thread. Anywho; I think it's less of the government, And more of the corporations pushing the government. After this bill would only benefit large corporations, In fact, it's detrimental to medium and small businesses for the most part.
Good article, thank you for sharing that. Wow dude, that's the best brony photo manipulation I've ever seen, it really expresses a point that we all should learn and also involves ponies XD
@Cupcake Actually they have, That's what stopping me from Hitting my head against walls. The PRO-IP act was very similar to this one. It kind of failed though.
