It's a thought I suppose but the common argument against it is usually something about not wanting to make certain members too...high and mighty or something.
[Rough Translation: The weird little head is called a 'Kappa' and it means he's joking. Just so's you know.]
This is just my one cent here but if someone argues with you there is a fairly simple way to solve the problem. It's the block button, problem solved. And this is my other cent, don't use the button, I enjoy the entertainment.
Echoax *Can't stop watching avatar* :Boo: As for the rep system, why not try it again? People getting high from reps was over a year ago. Right now it might just serve enough to keep people here.
I might support a like system where the "likes" a post got were displayed on that post but did not follow the user around as a method of "reputation." It's a medium between the current and old systems and, I believe, addresses the old problems as well. The one exception might be that not having a like system does arguably encourage users to vocalize their agreement rather than clicking a single button. Oh, it's possible, at least physically so. We've had one here before.
Okay, I'm only writing this to give my word on the current idea of having a like system, you're welcome to read it, and yelling at me after. It's just my opinion, and i don't want it to pass as ''Saul tries to lead everyone as if he's a god-like thing'' (that would only be half-true). here's why the like system is a good idea, but that it couldn't work on this forum. First off, a like system can be used in a good and in a bad way. Good way- share your opinions and show the administrators the public's voice, as the one with the most likes. It can also be good as improving the forum games, discussions in general and the roleplay, for obvious reasons, to show your behavior versus one's opinion, or giving your approvement on something. But it can also be used as a false motive; one's voice could be turned off if he says something some people don't like. That would involve a small non-dicted reputation/fame system, and people with little to no likes to their post will less likely be heard. In the present, the same system can be seen with the new members everyday; We welcome them, but we're quickly juging them and sometimes, not in a good way. If the users would change their behavior just a bit, the like system could be integrated in a few sticky threads first, as a test. But everyone knows how we can fight against each other here; the like system would become a prime weapon if it passed the admins. Exemple; Someone loves Princess Luna. Someone loves Pinkie Pie. They both fight to decide who's the best pony; The marvelous princess of the night or the bearer of the most awesonme element, laughter. The guy on Pinkie's side is a new member, who had only 19 posts to his count. He joined last year. The guy on Luna's side is someone popular and highly respected for his intelligent remarks and skills in roleplaying games; most of all, he's an adult studying in psychology, arts and communications. A friend of the luna's-sided-guy loves luna too (HE'S BEEN INFLUENCED.), and joins his side. It doesn't take long until everyone's on his side and forgets about the other one, who simply vanished in the forgotten. Later on, that new member leaves the site, no one heard his leave, and he just said ***** about how people behaved here at his best friend, the moderator on EQD. Fustrated about such an unworthy fandom, he writes a bad article about EveryponyNet on EQD. That could happen, and you know it. We're just lucky to have some good friends (especilly, good admins) and be a MLP's fandom; a show about friendship, even girly in look, gives or makes us remember the most cheesy of lessons; but they serves us nonetheless. Anyways, that was my word. I hope you won't take it too bad, or not giving me likes. I'd be sad.
