He smiled at her. "Stew. I like cooking." *** She relaxed, rolling her eyes. "I have no reason to display it."
She looked up at him, a little playful. "Of course you do. Are you any good at it?" * * * "Pride, ma'am. It makes all the difference in the world."
"I suppose you'll find out," he said, before pausing. "If you'll stay for dinner?" *** "That's something I struggle with," she said sheepishly.
She looked up at him, squinting for a moment. "This really feels like I just invited myself over to eat your food..." * * * He laughed slightly, going back into the house, leaving the door open for her to come inside as well. "We'll work on it, Starlight."
"Well, no, because I'm the one who just invited you to stay." *** She stepped in hesitantly. "I suppose we will."
"Is this because I kissed you?" she asked abruptly, her bright eyes studying his face. "Did that change everything?" * * * He was returning to the old stove in the corner, stirring the bubbling pot of some sort of soup.
He tilted his head curiously, looking down at her. "Well, no. I already liked you a bit. It was enjoyable. I liked doing it." *** She looked around thoughtfully before coming over to him, looking over at the stove. "What are you making?"
This seem to make her flush even more, and she stepped towards him, looking up at his face. “You liked me already?“ *** “Root soup,“ he explained. “Potato, carrot... Would you like some?“
He tilted his head. "If I didn't, I wouldn't have kissed you, Ellie." *** She looked up at him. "Oh, no. I wouldn't want to intrude."
She squinted at him before looking back down in embarrassment. “I see...” *** “Nah, stay. Have some soup.”
She looked up at him with that smile, looking embarrassed. “It’s great.” *** He gestured vaguely to the rest of the house. “Make yourself at home.”
She looked up at him for a moment, seeming a little uncertain still. “So... you like me, then?” *** Logan passed over to her tiredly, sniffing stuff her hand.
This seemed to make her very happy and she went quiet for a minute, standing next to him and watching him stir. *** He sniffed her hand hopefully, looking for treats.
He looked down at her thoughtfully, patting her head. *** She grinned, reaching into her pocket and giving him a treat.
She looked up at him and stood on her tip toes to kiss him, almost as if she was losing her nerve. *** He took it back to his bed, sitting down and chomping on it. Burke looked over. “So that’s how you got in the first time.”
He looked down at her in surprise, pausing and kissing her back. *** She looked up at him sheepishly. "Yeah.."
She seemed immensely relieved by the fact that he reciprocated, her hand coming up to tentatively cup his jaw. *** “You’ve stolen my heart and now you’ve stolen the dog’s heart too.”
