He raised an eyebrow. "Would you rather it a stranger?" *** She raised her hands like claws playfully. "I look like one."
He looked mildly hesitant, wringing his hands for a moment. "The thought of you with someone else is.. It makes me feel strange. I don't know what it is, Ellie, but I want you to be mine and I'll just be yours and everything will be alright and it'll just work." *** "With eyes like mine," she said, coming around to him curiously.
She frowned, looking over at him for a moment. “I’m already yours,” she told him. “You know that you have my heart. I just think it’s a little crazy to propose marriage to a girl that you don’t even love just because you’d get... I don’t know. Jealous, maybe...” *** “No monster I’ve ever heard of has eyes like yours.”
He took her hand, looking down at it before getting down on one knee gracefully. He looked up at her, his good eye intense. "I don't know how I'm supposed to feel, Ellie. I don't have a heart, but when I'm with you I feel like I'm on top of the world. It might be silly of me to say, but thanks to you I don't mind It's absence. I think I love you, Ellie. I know neither of us are ready for marriage, but if that's what it takes then so be it." *** "Nightmare eyes."
Her eyes widened and she looked down at him, her face impossible to read. “Xav...” she murmured, almost helplessly, her free hand reaching out to brush his hair back. Her hand traveled down to trace his jawline and she sighed, looking over her shoulder. “Come with me to my room, okay?” *** “Dream eyes,” he replied with a small pout before looking over at her. “Listen, Ms. Scarlet, I have to leave for a while.”
“Yeah,” she said quickly, looking around. “I can’t have people hearing this.” *** “Several weeks,” he said, looking down at her.
He frowned slightly, looking unsure. "Okay.." *** She looked mildly unhappy at this. "That's so long."
She brought him down the hall quickly, opening one door and pulling him into her room. She made sure the door was closed before turning to him and kissing him, her hands coming up to cup his jaw. *** “Yeah, well... I’m not exactly looking forward to it.”
She leaned into his touch, trailing her kisses down to line his jaw. She held him gently, as if he were a precious gem. *** “A city across the way. I just need to make some sales...”
He paused, watching her carefully. "Is this about what I said?" *** She looked down thoughtfully. "Can I come?"
She laughed a little, looking up at him for a moment. “A little,” she admitted, watching him. “It’s a lot of things. I still think you’re insane, but you pretended to be a prince for me. You went to a King, lied to his face, gave back the shard of heart that you stole, and bartered into a position of power. I still think you’re crazy, but I also think you’re brave and sweet and romantic and incredibly hot.” *** He brightened, looking up at her. “You want to?”
His blush deepened, and he kissed her again. "You're lovely." *** She smiled slightly at his response. "If you'll allow me."
She laughed, holding his face in her hands. “I don’t know though, Xav... could we keep this up? Lying like this?” *** “Oh, that changes this trip!” he said excitedly. “I get so bored when I’m there.”
He grinned. "With you on my side, I'm sure I could do anything." *** She grinned brightly. "It'll be fun!"
She gave him a small look, flushing slightly. “That’s great, except that it’s my father,” she said quietly, frowning again. “He doesn’t deserve to be lied to.” *** “I gotta make some changes to the plan, but they should be solved easily.”
