Her hands came up to cup his jaw and she leaned back against the pillows, letting him take the lead. * * * "Fine," he said with a small smile. "Let's play a game, then."
She fell back a little, letting him rest against her as she kissed him back gently. Her affection for him was evident as she leaned into his touch. * * * "Sure. A little game to see who knows the other person better."
She laughed breathily, watching him to see what he would do next, her eyes curious. * * * "Ask me a question about you. Make it easier at first."
He shifted, slowly kissing down her jaw and neck. *** She tilted her head, watching him curiously with bright eyes. "Favorite color?"
She took a deep breath in surprise, her fingers coming up to run through his hair instinctively, murmuring his name lovingly. * * * "Hm... blue, maybe? Some sort of green?"
She looked down at him, a flush across the bridge of her nose. "I love that," she told him, looking a little embarrassed. "I love what you're doing, Xav... you're like magic." * * * He steepled his fingers, resting his head on them and giving her a devilish grin. "What's my first name?"
He laughed slightly, looking up at her. "You think so?" *** She paused and looked confused. "Isn't it Burke...?"
She nodded hastily before giving a sheepish little shrug. "What can I say? I love neck kisses." * * * "Burke is my last name," he corrected, raising one eyebrow. "It's the name I tend to go by. What's my first name?"
His grin widened as he kissed her neck again. *** She looked uncertain. "Wow. Uh.. I'm not sure.. I thought that was your first name."
Her eyes fluttered closed and she laughed at herself. "Jesus, Xav." * * * His smile widened and he considered her warmly for a moment. "Jedidiah. Jedidiah Burke."
"That's a good reaction," he teased. *** She relaxed, a grin returning to her face. "Jedidiah Burke. That's so cute."
She sighed for a moment, shaking her head embarrassedly before moving over to him. (Zoop!) * * * He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. "Yes, well... my mama and papa are very religious, y'know? So, 'Jedidiah' it was. My brother got the name 'Benedict' though. Life just ain't fair."
She woke blearily, looking down at Xavier for a moment. A small smile crossed her lips as she kissed his cheek. She slipped out of bed slowly, going over to her drawers and unfolding a large grey sweater. She pulled it over her head as she walked over to the fireplace, lighting the logs inside. There came a quiet knock on her door and she looked up before opening the door, sticking her head out. After a quiet exchange with the servant, Ellie brought in a pot of tea and a plate of scones, setting them on the bedside table and sitting next to Xavier on the bed. * * * "You're too kind," he said duly. "Your turn."
He shifted as she sat, his eyes fluttering open as he sat up slightly. "Good morning.." *** She nodded, looking thoughtful. "What's your birthday?"
She looked down at him affectionately, raising an eyebrow as she gave him a shy smile. "Good morning." * * * "That's not how this works," he chided playfully. "Ask me a question about you."
