He got up, getting dressed as well with a frown. *** She frowned at him, taking his hands. "It's alright, Burke. I'm not put down by it. There will be other chances. Ones that I actually remember."
She came out a few minutes later, wearing a deep red dress, her brows furrowed. "I'm going to go..." she said tentatively. * * * He looked at her with a frown before kissing her forehead gently. "Try to forget that it ever happened," he told her quietly. "Your first time should be something special."
He looked back at her with a frown. "Me too. I think.. I think I should go home for a bit." *** She looked up at him with wide eyes. "You kissed me."
She frowned and her expression shifted even more. "...oh. Okay." * * * He raised an eyebrow. "Just then? Yes, I did. I'm trying to have a moment with you, Weirdo."
He looked away from her, appearing upset as he grabbed his bag. "I'm sorry." *** She tilted her head back to look at him. "Are you worried, Burke?'
She also seemed upset, watching him with crossed arms. "Why are you sorry?" * * * He laughed despite himself. "Yeah, Starlight. I'm worried."
He shook his head at her. "For frightening you. I've never killed anyone, Ellie." *** She took his hands slowly. "How come?"
She frowned at him, watching him carefully. "I'm not frightened of you," she said slowly. * * * "Because I ruined something for you and I don't even remember doing it." His hand came up and he gently brushed her hair back. "This isn't how it was supposed to be for you."
He shook his head slightly. "It felt like it." *** She leaned into his touch. "You didn't ruin anything, Burke. I agreed to do it."
She didn't reply for a moment, watching him. "How long are you going to be gone?" * * * He sighed slightly, studying her. "Do you remember any of it?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. I just don't want to upset you." *** She shook her head. "No, not really."
"You're not upsetting me," she said with a frown. "You don't have to go..." * * * "Then who's to say it actually happened?" he said, raising an eyebrow. "Maybe it just... maybe we just decided to have a naked dance party of something."
He gave her a look. "I think I am." *** She laughed. "I like that. Maybe we were dancing around a bonfire summoning demons."
She fell silent under his look, folding her hands in front of her and averting her gaze. * * * "That is my favorite pastime..." he mused.
He sighed, looking down as he went to leave. "I'll see you later." *** She grinned. "That's what we did."
She watched him go nervously before speaking. "I love you." * * * "Obviously. How could anyone think anything else?"
She nodded slowly, wringing her fingers nervously as she watched him. * * * "Right. Ready to go to market?"
