For as long as it takes. When this thread goes 72 straight hours without a reply, the last poster is declared the winner and creates the thread for the next round. Feeling like it's getting more difficult to focus. One day at a time, self. One day at a time.
Truer words have never been spoken. (I could use some more sleep myself. I might have made a blog post at Fimfiction at 1:10 in the morning.)
I've been reading too many manga lately, Sadly the site I read them on is a bit wonky so it's best to only have the one window. Suck that I lost again.
Nature is out to get me. This morning it wasn't a spider, it was a tiny worm that decided to drop on my arm from the tree.
I don't know... My aunt used to have wild Blue Jays around her house that she taught to eat peanuts from her hand. They would come land on your hand and take the peanut from you. It was actually pretty fun. Worms are just creepy and wiggly.
So, over at DeviantArt, I'd been placed on someone's waiting list for the past two years. Reason it took that long to get to me was because there were over twenty people ahead of me, plus all of those on the artist's Patreon who were allowed to cut in line. But at long last, this past week I was finally able to get artwork of Ellen Harrison commissioned. Pricey, but oh-ho-ho-ho was it ever worth it. >^_^< The picture can be found on DA here for anyone that wants to see it at full size.
Ellen was part of a group of OCs I created back in 2008-2009 or thereabouts, and aged up little by little each year. I needed an emotionless child to balance out one of her more enthusiastic siblings, and she was it. She started out at around five years old, but I gradually aged her up. By mid-2020 (when that picture up there actually takes place), she appeared to be about 17.* Long summary made short: she's basically Maud Pie if Maud had even less emotion (and she already didn't emote much past her debut episode), constantly looked like she was done with everyone's nonsense, was born with asthma, made sure that what little she said was well-thought out, and became capable of killing supernatural beings using only paper. She uses playing cards as weapons--that's what those things are in that holster she's wearing. She's a major character in a few of my stories at AO3, and her pony self, Five-of-a-Kind (seen below in some pre-generated art) is a minor character in my current project at Fimfiction. There's a lot more to her than what I have typed here, but if I went on, I'd be here all night. ()^_^ * - I phrase it that way because at that point in time, Ellen was biologically only 12.
Killing with paper? I remember that one and the OVA is better than the series. Bonus, the soundtrack is amazing.
Never paid much attention to Read or Die on the whole, though I won't lie and say it wasn't one of the inspirations for Ellen's power-set. Tricks that Ellen likes to use include sharpening paper so that they can destroy monsters that live on the astral plane, hardening her cards to the point that they can stop gunfire, and instantly repairing them in case something does damage them. Of course, she can control said cards remotely, no real surprise there. And her cards are laminated with Callista's supply of Code Red Mountain Dew and SunnyD, so just about anything weak against fire and sunlight aren't going to last long. A bit of clarification on that last one. For some reason, whenever I go to another universe, most beverages I take along gain weird properties. Bottles of Code Red are basically flamethrowers, and SunnyD is high-intensity sunlight.
Usagi powers are mostly shape shifting. Her body has femto-scaled machines in them and she can use those to alter other stuff, but I've made sure there's a mental block installed to prevent her from using the power outside of herself. She's gotten around the block a little, doing things that look like Edward Elric's Alchemy, but the she's still not about to just touch things to infect and alter them and she not able to affect living things yet.
