Might I Recommend Simply Locating Yourself On The Far Side Of The Planet, and cloaking the underside to avoid any planetary observation devices.
"There is a mining team on the surface. Transport to and from the site is easier if the Matriarch maintains geosynchronous orbit." Besides, it's likely that any pictures taken of the Matriarch would be dismissed as equipment failure or a hoax. Humans have trouble accepting anything which falls outside their experience.
