I kind of wonder if the toy department just didn't know that there was already a male Golden Delicious in the show. Sort of like how the show didn't know Starswirl was used for a female toy.

 

Maybe. I'm not sure how much communication there is between the studio that makes the show and the toy department. I imagine they only get the important notes, like 'Twilight = Princess'
