Well, probably not all of them.
But I'd say the ones that show intelligence are almost certainly capable of experiencing emotions.

I think your right ridley. I mean look at any child animal. They learn through playing, and by experiancing. And they obviously get scared or curious. Those are feelings so if they can have those feelings then why not happiness.

Besides who isnt happy about having food after a long search, or seeing others of your kind that wont attack you for some reason. Or being successful at guarding your territory.

But what counts as intelligence? And surely different animals are capable of experiencing different levels of emotion?
A lot of emotions have direct evolutionary purposes; fear to keep them away from danger, curiosity to help them find things of advantage ect, but do you need happiness? I mean, we as humans do for our mental well being, but that's a result of our sentience, right?
Many young mammals play, true, but I don't believe birds or fish do.

Idk. Blurred boundaries and spectrums, I guess, like most things.

Well, I've read that dogs and cats have the intelligence of a human child.
Most apes and monkeys are pretty smart, and so are whales, elephants, and corvids.

Children obviously feel emotions. Why wouldn't an animal that has similar intelligence?

Since when did this page become a philosophical discussion about animal emotions?

I agree. As I said; dogs, monkeys, cats and the like obviously can experience some version of happiness, but they also don't understand things in the same way we do. Hell, they may even have emotions that we don't. I just find it interesting to think about what translates and what doesn't.

Why don't we just ask Pirate Dog?

"Pirate Dog, how do you feel right now?"

    -Woof.*-

So what's the most annoying song stuck in your head. Lio got "Life is a Runway" stuck in my head. It's better than "Call upon the Sea Ponies".

Trick you? Why would I want to trick you into getting an annoying song stuck in your head. I'm just trying to hold a conversation.

If you ever get a song stuck in your head, you can get it out quickly and easily with a power drill.

Er, no I have a back-up memory drive located at my fortress. So drilling out my brain won't work.

Yeah, my fortress is in a completely different reality. Good luck finding it. I have trouble remembering where I parked it half the time. Stupid security protocol keeps me from tracking it using my link.

*Hop's over to Alice and lights her hair on fire.*

You're right burning stuff is fun.
