No. It's not. But when a fandom has a name for that holiday, you cannot possibly expect noone to use it. It's just a name.
... Are you serious? That's extremely literal. The holiday was clearly invented by the HUMAN CREATORS OF THE SHOW to be halloween for ponies. In fact, since it quite literally is their own holiday, but is almost identical to ours in time of year (presumably by the weather) and how it's celebrated, it is the same holiday EXCEPT witha different name and origin.
And they give some of their candy to a statue which at least I have never done when have celebrated Halloween.
"Almost" identical. And that seems more like a "throw candy into the haunted house so monsters don't get you" shtick they pull on young kids. Pinkie is the only one who actually mentions it, and she says it to the youngest character in the episode, and only when other ponies actually "see" nightmare moon, do they throw their candy like "oh god, the legend is true. maybe that old prank is too"
