    It's sort of explained for Terry, the other guys not so much. The Tournament happens in a shared dream world controlled by the final boss. If you pair Terry with a certain contestant she apparently knows the boss and says he got the idea to turn Terry into a girl from a magazine he took from her.

    Iori Yagami sort of has a reason for being a girl, but there isn't an in game explanation. In the last girl only fighting game Iori in drag was the boss, so this time they made Iori a girl. However in one of his costumes he's still a guy.
