    Because I played both and from what ive seen there are some references to fallout 3 in FONV so you could play 3 and then play in order, it kinda explains the whole plot throught out the game, but you could just play FONV and if you get the jist of 3 then you would understand more
    That's why you could play 3 without playing the others

    I got into it a while ago, a year or so, but still went on the wikia and went through all the lore, and I loved it immensely I was a bit dissapointed in New Vegas, but it did not stop we from replaying it
