I'm suprised and sickened to say...Fluttershy T_T. The whole Flutterrage meme has just...destroyed her reputation.I sincerely hope "The Best Night Ever" is the last we see of Flutterrage. Or I'm leaving this fandom :|.
I know. It's just the whole "She's really shy and sweet and kind and gentle but DON'T make her angry" thing has been WAY overdone and "The Best Night Ever" as well as the widespreadness of the Flutterrage meme has blown the part of my brain that processes Fluttershy getting angry and I think my brain is starting to repair itself right now and I'm kind of spacing out bye. Edit:Okay I think that part of my brain is sufficiently repaired now. Let me go out there by saying that everyone gets angry once in a while...it's just...when a character trait gets overdone, a fan can get sick of it.
You know... I disliked the Flutterrage thing, too. And I still love Fluttershy, probably because I think she's the only one who learned her lessons through the season. Also, this is to show what happens if you deny a pony the call of their cutie mark...
Honestly, at this point, there's not one character in the show I absoultely despise. I can find something to like in every character, even if I have trouble putting my finger on it, sometime. Well, that's not entriely true, I guess. There was one time I actually kind of didn't like Rainbow Dash for a little. And this was quite recently too. A few weeks ago, I was reading this fan fic called "The Ballad Of Twilight Sparkle" and the author had Dash portrayed at times in the story as those people who try too hard to act like their "cool" and "hot stuff". There was actually a reason she would act like that, but if you haven't read this story, I won't spoil that reason for you. Read it to see if you can figure it out. I needed it pointed out to me, at first. Anyway, the author had her using phrases like "for reals" and "babe" (You know, how some people say "relax, babe, chill out! I've got this!"). Just hearing someone like Dash using those phrases just didin't fly right with me. Again, the reason for this is sort of revealed in the story. I don't mean to offend anyone on here right now who does talk like that. This was before I realized that the author wasn't trying to put the chracters 100& in their canon personalities. Now, you might be thinking "but Dash always acts like that in the show!" That she does, that she does. but the way it was portrayed in the story was sort of putting it under a microscope and enlarging it to borderline annoying dimensions. Also, I'm not trying to offend any Dash fans here. Dash is currently one of my top favorite of the mane 6! (tied with Pinkie Pie). It will be one of those things where as long as I keep the point of her not having her personality in the show in the story in mind, It'll definitely make reading future parts where she talks like that easier and less cringe-worthy. Hope that makes sense enough. I keep thinking I'm forgetting to put something.
You know, I really don't like Twilight Sparkle. I think she has the least development out of all the main ponies. She's smart and useful, but she isn't interesting. She doesn't really have any flaws, and that bothers me. I like that all of the other ponies have strengths and flaws. She's boring at this point. I hope her character is built up more next season.
I'll be honest, Pinkie Pie annoys me =/ That didn't stop me from basing a DnD character's personality off of her, though. XD
Well, with my favorite being Luna/NM It sorta fits that my least would be Celly. This is basically the fandom's fault for portraying her as a tyrant, which I slowly grew to believe. I don't anymore, but... And then there's the fact that she seems two faced and trollish to me, and that's a no-no for me. (Well, except for RD and Pinkie's pranks, but those aren't really trolling.)
Crude... Trollface is awesome, but oh GOD... It's so ugly it hurts me... Skydancer1993: I understood this without reading the fiction. And that's what I dislike about Dash fans: they portrait her as a lesbian in the closet, and I think she's far less mature than that. She's not likely to fall in love and such, and if she does, she'd only try her best to pick some brony (or filly) when she's put into challenge. But seems bronies are too busy making her look like a manly pin-up. In Celestia's defense, I think she seems double-faced because she is smiling all time, and pretty much never gets upset. I think a ruler has to remain strong to rule, right?
I dislike Pinkie Pie, and also like her. She seems like she needs to be institutionalized. I like when Dash is portrayed as a Lesbian because it kinda helps me to relate to the show, It makes me feel less alone. And makes for some great jokes and odd shipping pairs. (off topic point) My fave shippings +=<3 +=<3
My least favorite character...hmm that's a tough one but I think I'm gonna have to go with Twilight. This is only because (as Dr. Whooves already pointed out) she has very little development. In the first few episodes she was interesting because she had goals in each episode but as the show went on we got to see more of the other characters and less of Twilight. She sort of faded into the background and gained little to no development throughout the season. She's not a BAD character, just a boring one
Techna_Rave: What I dislike is how they portrait Dash as a lesbian in closet, not the whole homosexual thing - actually, I dislike this one, too, but it's a trauma over idiotic boys, so don't bother. notashamed: Twilight ends up boring because if she gets spotlight, she's taken as the leading character, and the producers, regardless of selling toys or making something good, want us to like everypony.
Least favorite . . . Well, I suppose of the Mane cast it's Rarity - but least favorite means she only gets 95%, NOT that I don't like her! Although she might get a bit annoying from time to time . . .
Bamboo, what do you mean by Trixie being for the "Lulz"? For a character that appeared in one episode, I don't understand all the hate for Trixie. In fact, I think Trixie haters are too jaded from the mane six's point of view. Consider this: Trixie is a travelling stage performer, a magician at that. Her profession requires that she be arrogant, overly dramatic, and assertive to prove her abilities and sell her act. The fact that the mane six get sucked into this and get angry about it pretty much reveals their own immaturity, not Trixie's. Also, as part of her act, she had a display of her defeating an Ursa Major. So what? She's an entertainer. Magic isn't *real*. The fact that her moron fanboys took her seriously is due to their own stupidity, and understandably, I would be as shocked as Trixie was. Then, considering Trixie even stuck around to challenge the Ursa Minor instead of simply leaving shows courage if anything. Of course, Twilight Sparkle and her cronies are quick to make it a moral thing that an entertainer *gasp* said something not totally truthful to sell an act. She then leaves in a huff without atoning for anything because she is just a travelling entertainer - what does she owe to an angry group of moral crusading ponies? I bet Trixie has a very interesting personal history, which is why I'm trying my hand at fan fiction to see how her story may have started. Seriously, bronies, try looking at things for another perspective for once. The mane six are usually wrong about something for the majority of an episode anyway until there is a plot twist revealing their error. Now, the difference between Trixie and Gilda is that Gilda is just a bully in her real life relationships, which makes her an unlikable character by anyone's standards. We don't know enough about Trixie's real life to make any sort of judgments.
Manehattanite: Seriously, you're the only serious fan of Trixie I ever knew! The others simply go around how she's oh-so-awesome-and-troll like, and how she looks "hot" in socks or making out with Twilight. She only appeared in one episode (like you said), and her main duty is to be a foolish liar. How "interesting" is that? Sure, she's a wanderer, but she shows up to be completely unimportant - if she was, would she be used again? Zecora's less popular, yet she appeared twice in season 1. If she was more important, she'd appear more than once, wouldn't she? And since you mentioned the mane cast, only Twilight seemed to know she was making up the story for entretainment. The rest are just as naive as the fandom about her. So if you think you can make her any percent cooler, go ahead. But don't try to force her down my throat nor to point her as anything more than a faded background - I pointed the GOOD points in my analysis, and clearly stated later: I don't like her because she's an entretainer (like you said yourself) in and outside fandom. Well, an entretainer - I mean, a character for the lulz. What are the lulz? Laughter and tricks, right? And her story doesn't bother me, because any attempt to go further in her story only reinforces the image I have of her being a failure of many, many sorts. So until Trixie shows up with a decent portion, either by fandom or show, she'll remain an epic fail 4 teh lulz to me - epic fail to ME, because she failed miserably in making me like her. And because her whole existence IS entretainment! For lulz (breaking up the rightie-lightie tone of the show) and for being anti-goodieshoes. I don't need her to do that, because I have Nightmare Moon, who's far more epic than Trixie would ever be.
OK. I have no idea what any of this means. Where do I say she is an important character? Besides, I'm optimistic that she will return in Season 2. Taking this a bit too personal, aren't you? Are you privy to some of Lauren Faust's material that the rest of us are not? Not sure if you are being serious or just trying too hard at mimicking nerdy catchphrases. There are so many illogical oversights here that I don't know where to start.
Manehattanite: Oh, sorry if I hurt your feelings, I didn't know you were so sensitive! Good to see you understood my point. ^^ I hope you realize you're being too hopeful about Trixie Take a look at her fanart in Equestria Daily. Or do a Google Search. I said you said she appeared in one episode and we can't assume anything about her. I'm saying she wasn't worth coming back, so she appeared only once. Do I have to? Her story lacks potential itself. I'll be surprised if they ever come up with something worth about her. Since you are so smart, I'll translate to you: the show itself tells she's for the lulz. I don't like characters with little to no importance, which is her case. I hope this is not illogical to you. Very well. Just who wrote two letters in Trixie's defense? And by your reply I was trying too hard... It seems you were hurt when I said Trixie wasn't important in the producers' view as well (or least during season 1, since you are so hopeful about season 2). And like I said, better yet, you said, she's an entretainer, right? So I don't know why you complain about her being merely a character for fun. Does she need any deeper, let's say, fleshing out? I don't think so. I hope you have a good day and don't take Trixie so seriously like you did. ^^
Gilda gets my vote. She was rude, arrogant, and full of herself. And ever since the scene where she made Fluttershy cry, I wanted to hunt the birdbrain down and like the Nostalgia Critic, "put a bullet in her head and call it macaroni". I not the biggest fan of Trixie either. Then again, I usually never like characters that are full of themselves or show offs. Only acception is Rainbow Dash. Out of the mane six, I would say Twilight is my least favorite also. Not because she's bad, like most have said already, she is kind-of boring. Development still needs to be done with her. Other reason she's my least favorite is that I don't think she truly appreciates everything Spike does for her. She definitely takes him for granted half the time.
Hmm, the only character I really disliked was Gilda. She was just rude for the sake of being rude and lacked any redeeming qualities. I can't really say that I dislike any of the main characters, though.
