"Well I don't think you like this. I think if we rule with citizens in mind, they'll turn around. They love their Princess already." Bolt offered
"Well...we're here anyway. You have to tell me why it is that it is good to be kind. I can't grasp it myself...explain it to me?" Bolt asked timidly
"Well, I'm not always kind myself. But it's a way to get what you want." She paused. "Think about how you are with me. That's kind."
Bolt was about to speak when Chrysalis walked up behind him."Do you really think that this is going to work? Look around. These ponies won't change. Your own army is full of troops that hate you. Your citizens fear you. Flitter is the only one who accepts You." Chrysalis scolded Bolt looked up, a hurt look in his eyes. He inhaled, thinking of a reply. - - Auto Merge - - I know that...I-I've always known that. But doing nothing can only cause more suffering. These ponies can change. Flitter, Brisk, and Narrowleaf have all shown me that they can. And I believe them. Because one day...I want to be like Flitter. The first time I met her...we connected. And until we got married, every time I saw her, she pushed me. Before her...being tied to somepony meant pain, and sorrow. Thanks to her I see. I see now that all of the feelings in life...the sorrow, the agony, the joy, all of these can be shared with those around you. And one day I will be precious to more than one pony. My people will change. They won't think I'm a weapon...they'll think I'm a leader." Bolt replied, a smile creeping across his face.
"Oh really?" said Flitter to Chrysallis, stepping in. "And you should know? Your subject hate you. You should know. Your a changling. But guess what? So am I. I feel the respect they have for him. Your subjects don't even have that. Bolt defeated Celestia. You were defeated."
"Respect and love are two very different things." Chrysalis replied. "Like you would know. You eat every feeling that comes your way. I analyze. The stares, the shut doors, the terrified eyes. All of these tell me...I've been in this alone for so long...they know that. They know my inexpirience. They know my past...but what they don't know is my future. And you don't know that either. So unless you want that peace treaty to dissapear in a convenient fire...let me do whatever I damn well please to do, and buck off, Chrysalis." Bolt threatened. "I meant tevery part of those speeches. But neither of you seem to care about them." He spat, more at Chrysalis than Flitter. "Flitter is thinking about it...you just loathe my words, Chrysalis. Get away from us." Bolt demanded.
"Given that you were busy analyzing what I'd said, but had no real reaction to it...I wasn't sure. I'm sorry for doing what I've always done and jumping to conclusions." Bolt said apologizing.
"I think I need some counseling from you and Brisk. Sometimes two ponies is enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong...unless one of them is Narrowleaf!" Bolt joked, laughing. He straightened up. "But serously...Brisk knows me very well. Sometimes I think she even gets what makes me tick. Hell, I don't even know that. But she can analyze my future...and tell me how futile this is or isn't..." Bolt trailed, waiting for an answer.
"I figure if all I'm doing is hurting you on the inside with this...I may as well know if it's worth continuing. If anything changes in you, should we go on with this, I stop. Forever. You'll always be more important than me. No matter how powerful I am...I will always bow down to you, Flitter." Bolt swore to her. "Remember that any time you should ever doubt me."
"I'm just worried your hurting yourself for others. Never do that, Bolt. Without yourself, who else do you have?"
"Nopony. I'd be alone, just like I was before all of this. Let's go and see-" Bolt was interrupted by Brisk literally landing in front of him. "Uh...Flitter? Did you call her? I didn't call her...maybe it's coincidential?" Bolt said, startled.
"Brisk is brilliant. Future, remember?" she said. Brisk embraced Flitter, and sort of nodded at Bolt, not really knowing how to greet him. "I've got to hurry, I'm afraid. Narrow needs me. But you have a question?"
"Yes... When I'm done with this process of self-actualization...will I be less worthless to everypony than I am now? And more importantly, how will it affect Flitter? Bolt asked hesitantly.
HEr pupils left her eyes, and she spoke. "Ponies will love you more than they do now. Flitter..." she began. Then she stopped. "Excuse me." she said, flying off.
