"You should lie and say you're pregnant or somethin'. Y'Know... So they don't separate a family." Narrowleaf suggested, using telepathy. "...Or somethin' like that." (Hello?)
They laughed, and a loud crack came from Flitter, as they broke her arm. "Maybe..." responded Brisk, thinking. She walked into a large cave, where the whispers were strong.
"Look...This is between us. I don't like the fact that you feel you need to extort things from me. You have voices, so let's talk. What's your problem with me?" Bolt asked rather calmly under the circumstances.
"She's not like you. She's not a freak. You've foolishly given me an opportunity, and you will see who's kind she is." Bolt spat. His brother and sister appeared next to him, teeth bared and elemental demons unleashed. Star also unleashed hers, a beast of lightning. "SHIKIGAMI DANCE!" They sang, dancing elabnorately, eight spears at the ready, two of each element in the hooves of their masters. "ELEMENTAL BARRAGE!" They shouted. Dune speared the outer two, Cress the two before them, Star the two surrounding the leader, and Bolt double-speared the leader. They weren't dead, but they would be after their next family dance. "Cress, Dune, Star. Let's dance once more!" Bolt ordered. "SHIKIGAMI DANCE!" The family rang, resuming their previous position.
"Then let her go! Why can't you things just let me be happy?!?!" Bolt said, tears falling from his eyes as he floated to the ground. Cress was enraged, as was Dune. These were the things that had killed their father.
"Stop! What is wrong with you!" He asked furiously. Dune put a magic barrier around Flitter, as did Cress. She dropped to the ground. "Your magic...has been blocked. Star, help them." Bolt ordered. Star complied. "Speak, worms. Why do you do these things?" Bolt demanded to know.
Bolt exhaled fire. He was, in all respects, pissed. He trotted through the barrier to Flitter. He cast a continuous health spell. "I've failed you again...just like I always do." He spoke, not expecting a response. Dune and Cress looked on, heads low at seeing their brother broken on the inside.
Flitter began to tremble, as the bones mended. Her eyes fluttered open, and she coughed, trying to sit up..
Bolt kept his head down. He was too ashamed to look up. "I'm weak and pathetic. I put my family in harm's way, though I swore I would die to protect them. I should have found a way to deceive them. This would all be over if I weren't so stupid!" He thought aloud. Dune and Cress shook their heads in disagreement, but made no effort to verbally challenge him. Star began to cry softly, not wanting to hear Bolt say these things about himself.
Flitter looked at him, and her wings flapped. "Do you really believe that?" she asked, flying up to hug him.
He looked up in shock. "Flitter? Flitter!!" He said, gently pulling her into his hooves. He held her delicately, not knowing if her legs were still broken. "Maybe I'm not a complete failure after all..." He said happily.
"I won't let them have you. Why do they want to take you?" Bolt asked in confusion. "I thought they fed off of love. Wouldn't they want to keep us together in that case?"
