you're gonna have to be more specific, there are plenty of good fanfics in bronydom. however I do know some overhyped up ones like cupcakes that are meant to be good and then you read it and compare to better less popular fictions.
My little Dashie. Love that fanfic too much, it can't be healthy. It's so heart-warming, yet... So Tear-manly. And Dashie is best pony. So, yeah.
I'll be perfectly honest. Aside from the emotional things in My Little Dashie, I wasn't very impressed with it. I felt the Dash the author wrote was very much unlike the Dash from the show, and the other ponies as well, to a lesser extent. I also had trouble believing that at no point did anyone see a bright blue rainbow pony flying around causing sonic rainbooms for 15 years. I know the guy lives in a run down area, but do you expect me to believe no one else lives there at all? The only part in my opinion that was done well, and it was REALLY done well, was the narrator's emotions. Everything else I was honestly rather meh about.
I liked On a Cross and Arrow. It was the first MLP fic I ever favorited on FF.net. I thought the characters were done well, although (and this still bugs me) I could never, ever see Rarity voluntarily sweeping a dirt floor with her tail.
Personally read (in no order): Spark The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle Common Sky Past Sins Of Mares & Magic To Read: Eternal Slendermane Fallout: Equestria I read Rainbow Factory a few nights ago. Having been told the fic is based on the song, I guess it did okay. It was really hard to swallow the plot, though.
Fallout: Equestria would have to be my favorite pony fanfic by far. Littlepip is best OC in my opinon. I might even make a refrence or two to F:E in my fanfic collab because I love that fic so much.
I don't know if anypony's read the Dresden Files, but this crossover is AMAZING. The best part is that you don't have to have read the Dresden Files to enjoy the story; in fact, I read the Dresden Files BECAUSE I read this story. xD It's THAT GOOD. Well, that's just my opinion. So far I haven't really found to many good ones. people keep adding their own characters without thinking it through or doing things that make no sense int he bounds of the show.
One good story with a made-up character in it was The Druid's Chronicles. It speaks of that character's endeavors in Equestria...It explains how he got to Equestria and everything!
To be honest, I thought that too. But then maybe the change in Dashie's personality had something to do with the change of environment? It'd probably make sense that, raised in different conditions, she'd turn out differently herself. I've gotta agree with you though, the fact no-one saw the sonic rainboom is... Unlikely. I still really enjoyed the fanfic though, and would say it's worth a read.
