"One second Dark Shine!" Dark called back. After everypony had jumped down, Dark followed, closing up the lid, plunging where they were in total darkness. "now where was that blasted button again?" Dark muttered to herself as she stumbled through the dark before finally there was a click and the hallway lit up. "Alright, we are in luck, this is Tunnel EE-1, if we follow it, it will take us out of Canterlot and far into the countryside, about 50 miles or so to be exact."
Karl shuddered as he saw the jets fly around. He knew that those couldn't be taken down normally. He opened the Element, which was Force, closed his eyes and said, "Centum Sevs Visak!" As he the last word was spoken he vanished in a flash, leaving nothing but a small spiral of soul-magic in the spot.
Karl was sitting in a rocking chair, shivering. He was sitting on the porch of his house in The Rift, reexperiencing memories of the time before. He looked out from the porch, on to the psychedelic landscape, but started shaking when he saw a bi-pedal figure made out of crystal walking towards him. "Not you! Not now!" He screamed out in fear. "Don't worry Karl, i'm not here to hurt you." The figure said, reaching out a hand for Karl. "How can i trust you?" Karl said, still shivering in fear. "Because i'm The Clockmaker, Karl. I never lie." Karl looked at the figure, then at the hand, then back to the figure. "Can i break the promise?" Karl asked, still a bit shaken. "Ofcourse you can, i only made the promise when you were a Demigod, but now i see you've changed. You've changed into the better." Karl reached out his hoof and when the hand and hoof met, they both vanished in an flash of light. The last words on could hear was, "Promise: Broken." Karl appeared behind the group, carrying his Longinus Knife and his Terra pistol on his sides.
"Well look who decided to catch up." Dark said sarcastically on Karl's sudden appearence, "Now can we get going? All it takes is one good hit and these tunnels will be down around our ears."
"Yeah. Lets go kick some a- i-i mean flank. Yeah... right." Karl said, looking over to his sides, checking if his gear was there.
Tyro appears, stumbling behind the others. With one paw he rubs his eye and hobbles after the others in the group on the other three. "What in the name of Inari or Celestia or even Boggy Peat, is going on? Why have humans arrived? I thought hunans couldn't give less of a care about this world?!" Tyro comes to a halt behind the group, pointing the paw at anypony infront. "Somepony had better bloody explain what's that was all about back there!" Tyro growls in an exasperated snarl.
Dark Shine stopped and stood went next to Tyro. Thinking about it, I have been told nothing either.... Then again, I suppose its not really safe enough yet to stop. Dark Shine then turned and went back to Dark, but waited for Tyro to rejoin in escaping, making himself look a bit silly in the progress. "I believe we are escaping. As for why and how, we can find out later! Come on!"
As Karl was running, he was yet again reminded of another memory, but this one was a good one, not bad. "I got spurs, that hmm hmh hmhm." He started to sing a bit quietly, while smiling a subtle, but happy smile.
Fire followed along with the group, taking note of the constant shaking of the tunnel from the explosions near by, "This is gonna be hell..." He said under his breath.
"Hell? Ha! This was heaven when i was a- oh wait, no nevermind!" Karl shouted while smiling a wide smile. He had everything he needed. Now, all that was left was The Truth, and that was also in hoof-reach, so he had no care in the world at the moment.
Snow looked at Karl weirdly, What the hay is heaven, She thought. After many minutes of galloping down the tunnel, the tunnel slowly stopped shaking as the left Canterlot and into the countryside. The tunnel finally ended at a huge metal door with a coded lock and an eye scanner. Dark quickly unlocked the door and it opened with a shshhh as air escaped the tunnel. The door revealed a scene quite the opposite of Canterlot under seige. Birds were chirping, the vegetation wasn't on fire, there wasn't any chaos, there wasn't even a pony or ship in sight, other than those flying around Canterlot, which the once majestic palace had been literally been blasted from its cliff and now lay in a pile of ruin. And also the fact that in every direction they turned, at least one huge column of smoke was reaching into the sky. "Well, what now?" Snow asked rhetorically.
"I doubt any of you would come with me. I could try and raise the alarm in the Shadowed Forest for it is too heavily guarded for these things to attack," says Rashall, "If these new enemies have the Spear of Light then you can count on a lot of angry Eldar and Imperial's."
Firebreeze looked around at the nice scenery, then at the columns of smoke, "Dammit, dammit, dammit!" He kept saying under his breath.
"Ironic, isn't it?" asked a very smooth, even, pleasant tone from to the side of the group. They turned their heads to see a sky-blue Alicorn with a mane that was reminiscent of just plain old clouds, and his eyes matched his coat, "Heculius, what are you doing here?" Snow asked in shock. "Well, I am an element, aren't I? Or has your memory left you? Anyways, it's kinda hard to stay in Canterlot with it being nothing but a shelled out ruin, and I've never been the fighting type. If you are wondering just why it's so nice out here is because as of now, I am the sole solitary ruler of Equestria. Both Princesses have not been heard from, they probably left for the Freedom Rock bunker like the cowards they are, and Tremalion and the Knowledge O.P.I.A.T. vanished into thin air. So, I am here, trying to make the end as beutiful as possible."
Heculius just smiled, "Oh no, I do entirely intend to destroy these invaders, but like with all things, we need time. Oh, and Rashall, I would not suggest going home, everywhere on this planet is currently facing this invasion. Some places, like your home, did better than others and were able to put up a more than good fight, I think I heard they took down a Man O' War or two, but these creatures, these Humans, have been preparing for this a very very long time. A horde with technology is as dangerous as it goes, and that's exactly what these fiends are. The only ones to survive are those like yourselves, able to flee the areas that got attacked quick enough to avoid being vaporized." Almost instantly after Heculius finished saying that, a huge bright blue laser hit Cloudsdale in the distance. Heculius cringed even though he didn't even see it. After the laser faded, where Cloudsdale was floated, nothing remained, not even a cloud. "That is their ultimate weapon, what they used to defeat Mikar. Fired all from the way back from that 'Reach' place of theirs."
"Infiltration then? That seems the only viable solution here seeing that we are a small enough unit," says Rashall.
Heculius laughed, "I've been working on that. But, this Reach is about ten light years away, an absouletly astronomical distance. But, they do have one weakness. I've taken one look through a telescope to see the massive wormhole where all this stuff is pouring out of. I have a feeling that this wormhole is directly over their laser, all it takes is something to take it out. Heck, we could do it from this very planet. But there is one problem with it though, directly under the wormhole on this planet is the largest human army on this planet currently, going in and using the Ancient Elements would be a death sentence. And merely closing the wormhole would be no good, we would still have a massive, highly advanced army bent on total annahilation on our hands and they could just open a new one." Heculius replied, "And if we took to the skies right now, you would be blown out of the sky by those space-jets of theirs."
"What about the power required for this laser? We could try to cut it off, or cause a pretty nice bang," says Rashall with a slight smile.
