He considered her for a long moment, his brows furrowing. There was a silence. "I don't think you want to know, Aspen."
There was another long silence before he sighed, wiping his wet hands on a dishcloth and turning to face her. "I killed them."
Her expression was blank as she tried to process this. "But... You don't.." She tried to think of her wording. "By yourself?"
He raised one eyebrow, tilting his head slightly. An expression crossed his face as he considered her, one of resignation. "Yes."
She noticed, backing off slightly. "That's okay. You don't have to tell me anything, August. Thank you for telling me."
