“She likes it,” he agreed. He got to a large tree and tapped it with his toe. At the base, a small rabbit nosed its way out of its burrow, sniffing cautiously.
“Her name is Penelope. She wants a carrot. I’m sorry, darling, I wasn’t able to bring one this time.”
"Grass, mostly," he said affectionately, squatting down next to her and petting along her brown fur. "I'll give her some vegetables from my sandwich."
