She frowned slightly, remembering the food she brought from Icarus she wanted to share with August. "No.. I have everything." She looked up at him, her gaze somewhat sad. "I actually brought food from the star that wanted to share with.. well.. someone who isn't here. But you're welcome to stay and try, if you'd like."
He looked concerned, his brow furrowing. "You believe he's still alive, don't you?" he asked quietly.
The next night, Aspen would be ready. She had tools on her belt and dark clothing shielding her from view.
She approached the fort, her footsteps cautious and quiet. She made her way to the spot in the wall, going to work on getting in.
The spot was small and tight, but as she wedged through, she would see a lighter gloom at the end of the tunnel. Bugs skittled across her neck as she moved.
When she emerged, she would find herself in a narrow hallway. It wasn't particularily beautiful. In fact, if she were to describe it, she might go with something along the lines of 'functional'. That seemed to be the essence of this place. Everything had a purpose.
The Fort was silent. As she moved towards the end of the hallway, she would see a figure pass through a corridor up ahead. It was a young man. He was holding a tray and looking nervous, standing outside an ordinary door.
