She was silent before laughing incredulously, silencing herself by slapping her hand over her mouth followed by a small "oh my god" before she kissed him deeply.
She pulled away after a moment, her hands shaking slightly. "I love you too, August. Even if you don't believe me when I say that."
He shook his head slowly, looking irritated. “Don’t you dare tell me that I don’t understand. I understand love. I’ve had a year to figure it out.”
"I guess we just have different definitions of love, then," he said quietly. "I don't believe you can love someone that you abandon. I can't wrap my mind around that."
“You stay and you work it out,” he replied hotly. “You don’t confess your love for someone, impact their life so completely, and then run away.”
Her voice quiet, suddenly uncertain. "I wasn't sure. It wasn't so easy to leave. I guess I just figured you would get over me rather quickly."
He shook his head. “You did serious damage by leaving, Aspen,” he said quietly. “I can’t just let go of people like that. You should know that.”
