"It's in between," she said quietly. "Hopefully everything has been solved now."
“Still blind,” he teased, scooting over on the bed.
She huffed playfully, joining him. "Well I can see that."
“Can you? That’s great for you. I, on the other hand, can’t see anything.”
She laughed, shaking her head. "Ignorance is bliss, and what not."
“Except I used to be able to see.”
"Maybe you will again, one day."
“I don’t think so. Not at this point.”
"What do you mean?"
“My eyes are too far gone.”
"We can hope."
“I mean... I guess.”
She nodded, putting her arm around him. "I love you, August."
He looked over at her for a moment, his brow furrowed. “I love you too.”
She hesitated. "Is it okay if I say that?"
“It’s okay,” he confirmed, kissing her forehead.
She relaxed, resting her head on his shoulder.
He rubbed her back slowly before looking up at the ceiling. “This hurts.”
She pulled away slightly. "Me laying with you?"
“No, no,” he said with a sigh. “Just the general state of being, currently.”
