There was a clang followed by a small groan. He pulled out from under the ship, frowning. “Hey, Pen,” he said, grime on his face. “Did you get the muffin?”
He frowned, sitting up. "I went out and bought that," he said with a huff. "i learned how to order a muffin for you."
She kissed his forehead, obviously relieved to see him. "I know. I'm really proud of you. I just got a little worried and wanted to find you."
"I learned it for you!" he said eagerly, looking up at her. "Ready? Listen." He cleared his throat. "Meffen," he said, the translator not transforming his words. "Meffen. haf mundie. Meffen?"
"Thank you," he said proudly, nodding to himself. "I don't think they understood perfectly, but I pointed a lot."
