She shied away, wiping something from her cheek. "I.. I thought you left and I would never see you again."
He considered her, his brows furrowing. "I know what it's like to be left behind, Aspen. I wouldn't do that to you."
"Then why did you leave?" she asked, looking back at him, her voice cracking as he would see the tears in her eyes.
She stopped and covered her face in her hands, letting out a small cry before hastily wiping away the tears. "I didn't know where you went or why."
"I know, I know," he said, coming over to her. "But I wouldn't leave you. I wouldn't do that to you."
She wiped her eyes again, taking his hand. "I figured. Let's go home so you can get some decent rest and so I can help with your headache."
"I wouldn't leave you, Aspen," he said, sounding a little irritated. "I wouldn't do that to you, you know I wouldn't."
