Eli shrugged. "Suit yourself. We should leave quickly, though. You ready?" August finished packing the last of the items and looked over at Aspen for confirmation.
Eli came over to her, one brow raised severely. He raised one finger. "Follow us very closely. Okay?"
He eyed her before turning and heading for the entrance. August shot her a reassuring look before gesturing for her to go. "I'll take the end."
They began to move through the meadow. The sun had disappeared over the horizon, and she would see real stars above her. They weren't the stained glass ones of Icarus, obviously. These were smaller and twinkling.
Her brows furrowed as she watched the sky, slowing down ever so slightly before speaking in a hushed voice to August. "Are those the stars?"
August looked interested in her reaction, but said no more as they moved, keeping quiet. Mo was perched on her shoulder and his head was tilted back too. "A lot prettier than stained glass, huh Aspen?"
Eli raised a hand, signaling that they should wait. He crept forward, staying low to the ground, his eyes darting across the horizon. After a moment, he motioned them forward.
