He proceeded to bend over his work.
She started to work as well.

He finished, a little bit of stone dust on his face, leaning back thoughtfully. "We did it!"
She grinned. "You have dust on your face."
He frowned, looking over at her. "Do I?"
She nodded, folding her hands.
He brushed at it distractedly, missing most of it, before slipping out of the den.
She followed. "You missed it."
He frowned, glancing over his shoulder at her. "I did?"
She nodded, gesturing slightly.
He tried again with a frown.
She laughed slightly before moving her hand. "Here. I can get it."
He inclined his head towards her easily, looking perplexed.
She wiped it off, her lips pursed.
"Thanks," he said cheerfully, heading back to the desk. "You have no dust on you, for the record."
"Thanks for the clarification," she teased.
"We look out for each other."
She nodded. "We sure do."
