"Nothing."
“Okay, sure.”
She said nothing, watching him observantly.
“What?!”
"Oh, nothing."
“It’s clearly something.”
She shrugged nonchalantly.
“We’re going to have a problem.”
"Why's that?"
"Because you can't answer."
"Welk maybe I wanted to see the birds with you."
He paused, looking over at her. "You did?"
"Maybe."
That seemed to make him really happy, and he grinned. “Okay, we’ll do it.”
She looked up. "Really?"
“Really. We’ll sneak out tonight.”
"We're sneaking out?"
“Eli probably won’t want us to go.”
"Because it'll be dark?"
