Snow shrugged, and was about to bite into her sandwich when suddenly a black shadow crashed right into the table, sending Firebreeze and Snow backwards. "DARK!" Snow yelled. "Sorry, still not quite used to flying and helping with weather. I was trying to push a cloud into position when.." Snow cut Dark off, "It's alright Dark.". "Ok, oh hey Firebreeze, how are you?"
Fire looked up at Dark from the ground, "well, there's table bits in my sandwich, but other than that, I'm pretty good."
Dark smiled, "Sorry 'bout that." suddenly a watch on Dark's arm beeped, "Uh oh, looks like I'm needed. Gotta fly!" and Dark flew away very quickly. Snow watched as Dark joined a small group of pegisi and fly off in the Canterlot direction, "Well, that was random. I wonder why she's headed to Canterlot?" she said, continuing to stare off in that general direction.
Fire got up and brushed some of the table bits out of his mane, "probably a weather job or something." He picked up his sandwich and started to remove the table bits.
Dark and the other guards landed at the palace gates. She quickly got into uniform at the barracks and reported back to her superior, she felt slightly guilty of not telling her friends of her joining of the royal guard. She walked into Heculius' chambers to take her post as she was on his guard. The storm gray armor was surprisingly light, perfect for pegisi like herself. As she patrolled the halls, she bumbed into Heculius, "Oh, sorry sir." she apoligized. "It's quite alright Dark." he said and started to walk away, before calling over his shoulder, "Oh, and the coranation has been moved up in date, it's tonight to be exact. You might what to get to Ponyville to help preparations." Dark groaned, she just flown in from there, but she did as told and flew off to Ponyville to prepare the sercurity element of the coranation.
Fire and Snow said their goodbyes and went off to do other things. Firebreeze decided to sit in his cloud and play with his cup with a smily face on it, when he saw a royal guard. "huh... What's a guard doing here."
Dark was flying over Ponyville when she saw an all too familar green pegisus on a cloud, "uh oh" she said to herself and quickly sped off to the Plaza
Firebreeze remembered his time as a royal guard all too well. He found it boring, never gave him the thrill he needed. Fire decided to go see the guard and check if he recognized the guard. He followed the guard to the plaza to find Dark, "Dark? I didn't know you were a royal guard!"
Dark froze in place when she heard Firebreeze's voice, but sighed and faced him, "Yes, I joined the royal guard. Assigned to the Heculius sector, ranked Protector. Why do you think you guys haven't seen me much, and when you did, I was either in a hurry or tired?"
"I don't know. I always assumed it was some other weather business. Then again, I'm not good at piecing things together." He smiled, "why did you feel like you had to hide being a guard from us?"
"I thought you guys were still sore over the war and all, and being placed in Heculius' guard didn't help." she said, "Hey, could you keep this secret from Snow please? Pinkie promise me"
"I know, and not for much longer anyways. The cornation was moved to tonight!" Dark said. They looked up to see a group pegisi dropping leaflets. One landed right on Firebreeze's face and Dark read from it, "Date of Coranation changed! Come to Remembrance Plaza, Ponyville by 8:00 tonight to witness history!" Dark read
Firebreeze shook the leaflet off his face "oh, 'come witness history!' Haven't heard that line before..." Fire stopped as he realized he was getting irritated at little things, "I guess I'll see you there?"
Dark nodded, "Well, you better get out of here before the other guards get here." and she walked away to survey the Plaza and all possible weakpoints, strongpoints, etc. Snow bucked the tree as hard as she could, and apples fell all around her. She wiped her brow before turning to Applejack, "Hey, thanks again for hiring me, I was getting pretty tight on money." "Don't mention it." She said, then they returned to their work
Firebreeze flew back to his cloud to take a nap, having nothing else to do. Work didn't come too often, and when it did, it was tiring. He sat back and dozed off.
