Ore thought 'So no one knows what we are doing in groups' he looked at Buttercup and heard Velvet's conversation 'Battle!? I cant hurt anyone and more importantly her! She looks fragile and I may not know she might be the most powerful Unicorn ever' he thought. He walked over to the Teacher and said "What are we doing?"
Ecipse looked at Velvet then at the concerned Ore. "Do not worry Ore. You will not be going up against anyone. This is an exercise on teamwork as some spells work around teamwork. I would never be so cruel as to pit my students against eachother. Only on sports day will that be. No risk to anypony." Buttercup sighed. Grey Mane and Cool Shades were not at all amussed however. The seemed a lot more bitter. "We may as well begin! Take your partners and converse for a few minutes! I shall tell you what to do next!"
Velvet laughed discretly. "He really thinks i'm going to beleive that. 'Team-spell'? Oh gosh. Ready for an explosion, Crim?"
Aurora Heart showed up to the front steps of Magic Kindergarten, her knees wobbling with nervousness, and her parents gently pushing her ahead of them. She kept her wings tight against her side, worried what the other fillies would think of an alicorn like here, and used her magic to nudge her glasses back up her snout. She turned to look back at her parents, but already they were trotting away. Wincing, the small, dark-violet alicorn trotted inside, shouldering her bag more comfortably. She hoped there would be an art class, at least.
Her tongue suddenly stuck out of the side of her mouth as she turned to Silver and leaned in close. "Dozie you tink we kin workazza team gewd?"
Allure threw a concerned look at Quill. "Together, I'm sure we can do whatever the teacher's planning for us." She said nervously. 'I hope...' she thought.
"I'm sure we'll do great," said Silver. Inwardly, he worried that the klutzy unicorn might do something that would attract attention (she seemed to have a knack for that), and he didn't really like attention. Especially if it was the attention that came from messing up a spell in a massively embarrasing way. However, he didn't hold it against her. She obviously wouldn't try to embarrass him, and she seemed nice. Just...clumsy.
Aurora was lead to a classroom by an impatient 5th grade office assistant, and left there on her own. She swallowed, and pushed a hoof hesitantly against the door. It opened to show a classroom full of strange young fillies, and a teacher in the front. She shyly walked forward, slinking along the back wall to reach the teacher unimpeded.
Silver was bored. So he started to talk. Maybe just because Fizz seemed easy to talk to, because usually he didn't talk freely. "So, Fizz, what do you think of reading? Are you good at it?"
Haze didn't want to talk any longer, there wasn't really a subject to the conversation... And Haze was terrible at starting subjects. Nonetheless, she turned to the filly named Snow. "Erm... So where do you live? I live in Fillydelphia! I have to get flown here by Pegasus!"
Fizz rolled her eyes for a moment and blew up at her hair, making some of her frizzy mane float above her eyes for a moment before falling back into place. "Fizzie izzi no good at readin'. She try, she try, but whizzi we read izzi read slow, and fall asleep." She then expertly panamimes falling asleep.
Silver smiled. "So you get bored? I bet I could find a book you liked. Do you want me to?" Silver's family had a huge library built into their home, so despite the number of books he had read being higher than average for colts his age, there were always more. Maybe he could find one for Fizz; after all, everyone should love reading. Right? It was the best thing ever.
Aurora slid into her desk as silently as she could, peering over her purple saddlebag and pressing her wings unbearably tight against herself. Perhaps nopony would bother her after all. She glanced around in confusion, trying to make out whatever tasks her fellow students had to do. After squinting at the blackboards and noticing that all her classmates were chattering, she shrugged and slunk further in her seat with a deep sigh.
"Well, I'm from Canterlot, but my family moved to here from Fort Mareth right before I was born." Snow replied.
Silver changed subjects before Fizz could respond, automatically taking her answer to his previous question to be a 'yes'. "So what do you think we're going to be doing? You know, this team spell thingy. Sounds hard."
Aurora Heart's right ear perked up a little as she overheard a conversation nearby. Team spell? Sounded interesting, she thought. Ruffling through her saddlebag, she produced a paper and box of colored pencils. She lazily summoned a faint greenish glow around the pencil, and began to doodle aimlessly.
She was thinking, really. Looked like she was either thinking hard, or forgot what she was thinking about and was looking like she was thinking to avoid being caught in the act of forgetting. Probably that. She shook her head lightly and looked at Silver through her pink frizzy mane. "Hard? Likes a rock? I dunna t'ink I kan hazzanna moe toof-aches."
After staring blankly at the drawing before her, Aurora sighed heavily. She might as well suck it up and ask somepony, she figures. Twisting in her chair, she peered over at the two ponies nearby who were talking. "Um.. Excuse me, but what do you mean group spell? I just arrived.." Her ears flattened against her head and she hoped vainly that the other fillies couldn't see the wings she held so close to herself.
