"Screw that," Nightshade said, stepping outside. "What's the point of being a walking deus ex machina if I can't do something useful with it from time to time?" As she spoke, several large kitchen appliances fell from the sky with a loud crash. Blackout shrugged. "Got your parts."
I hope. (Starts scavenging heating elements and air compressors before putting them together into a box shaped construct. And building a homemade furnace refractory above it so the heat from the heaters would pass into the area where metal is melted.) Basic idea is to melt some metal and imbue it with the dust.
Blackout used an old forge spell he knew to help the metal melt faster. In only a few minutes, it had been reduced to molten liquid. "Alright. Got the metal ready."
OK. Can you keep the metal stable and the molecular upheaval in check, basically keep it from boiling and splashing around until I get a mold?
"No problem," Blackout said, switching to a basic telekinesis spell. **************************************************************** Miles away, Moonshine looked up from her forge. "I swear I get the feelin' somepony's doin' blacksmithin' stuff without me."
Miles away in a different direction, Saber was getting some groceries, and thought to Dusty "Need me to get anything from the store?"
Blackout carefully levitated the molten metal over to the mold and poured it in. "I know a spell to speed up the cooling, but there's a small chance of cracking. How big of a hurry are you in?"
Asmo checked his nonexistent watch. "Hey Windsor, it's like almost closing time. Also, where the *squee!* is Saber?"
Windsor shrugged, and held up a chalkboard that read "Last Call." **************************************************************** Cricket walked outside, where Blackout was using the cooling spell to finish off whatever it was they were making. "Last call, dear. Better hurry." ********************************************************************** Silver paid the tab, which, due in no small part to Winter's love of expensive top shelf booze, was well into the triple digits.
(As the metal cooled in the mold, in this shape Spoiler: This , sprinkles the dust onto the cooling metal.)
"What is that?" Cricket asked. "The symbol for Amalgam, unless I'm mistaken." Blackout answered. "But that particular sigil is uncommon. I've only ever seen Aunt Moonshine use it once."
Indeed it is the symbol for Amalgam. The bar and the child, can both also be considered amalgams, both born from two ponies who love each other. This symbolizes that. And it'll also enhance Maya's potion making, and Dusty's magical ability, but also when the child comes of age, it'll help the child too.
