"You are a fool," Nova stated flatly. "Winning a battle means nothing if you fail to protect the ones you're fighting for."
Nova stared at her drink with a melancholic expression. "Nopony can be everywhere at once. No matter how many you save, there will always be others who die praying for help to arrive. All anypony can hope for is to save as many as possible, and not let the dead die in vain."
Dusty frowned and looked down at the counter. Asmo cleared his throat. "Think this got too real for him..."
Edmond: (looking over) Huh, interesting. Question if I may, have either of you found out about what has been happening recently? Strange weather? Natural events occurring without much explanation?
"Be more specific," Nova said. "Last month there were three tornadoes and a flash flood in Appleloosa, all on the same day. Turns out a few weather Pegasi had too much cider and got bored."
Heart Song galloped in, grinning from ear to ear. "Did you hear?! There's a Changeling in the Crystal Empire!"
"You mean the one that didn't harm anypony and just wanted friends?" Dusty asked. Azrael tilted his head. "Wait, really? When was this?"
"Like... TODAY. Well, yesterday, actually, but it was in the newspaper this morning!" Heart was talking so quickly and excitedly that it was difficult to understand her. "Princess Twilight and Princess Cadance and Prince Shining Armor and everypony actually WELCOMED him! They like him! No disguises, no tricks, an actual Changeling living among ponies!"
