    Emerald Hoof and Ruby Smile had met on the day that King Sombra was defeated by Spike the Brave and Glorious.
    They'd been dating ever since, and were deeply in love. So it came as no surprise to Ruby when Emerald pulled out the ring box during their daily walk in the park.

    Emerald smiled. "Ruby, will you make me the happiest stallion in the world? Will you mar-- OOF!"

    His proposal was cut short when a strange cube fell from the sky and knocked him out cold.

    Ruby stared at the cube, then at Emerald's unconscious form.
    "Oh dear. I was going to say yes... but this is clearly a sign from the gods. Have a nice life, I guess."

    Ruby turned and walked away, and was long gone by the time Emerald woke up.
    He never saw her again.
