"Certainly," Dr. Mentis said. "There's some fruit right here if you'd like some." He gestured to the fruit platter between him and Tyro.
"Oh, fantastic, that's great thanks!" Haze stood still for a second, before realising she should probably go to the platter. "Thanks again!" she said, before turning away. Haze went over to the table, and picked up a nice, fresh red apple, and began nibbling away at it. "Hey Tyro."
Dark Shine got to the door and opened it, looking at the group sleeping. How should I do this without disturbing them into anger... He shrugged before shoving Dave out of bed. "Psst. Keep quiet, I have something to tell you."
"Hey." Tyro said to Haze before reaching down for an apple. That was probably the best he could hope to keep down at the moment. He lowers his head and finds that his teeth uselessly champ shut around nothing. Haze was nibbling through that apple as he grumbles quietly and unintelligibility as he picks up another one, taking large bites out the side.
Haze looked round to see where the doctor was. She saw that he'd not moved- She couldn't yet tell Tyro of their plans. She turned back to Tyro, noticing he was grumbling as he, too, picked up an apple. Maybe she should get this done quickly, it seemed he didn't want to talk to her... Well, she'd have to just try and talk whilst the doctor was right behind them... "Erm, Tyro, what's up?"
Dark Shine shook his head. "I dont think so. But me, Snow and Haze all heard sound coming from the Asylum part. We were wondering if you could come with. Its safer in groups. Not to mention, your kinda the strongest here..."
"I don't hear anything" Dave flexes his muscle's "but if you all scared ill come along" Dave walked towards the door of the bedroom.
Dark Shine smiled. "Thanks. Now I'll go wake Zephyr. Wait there while I wake him up." He then turned to Zephyr and shoved him out of bed. "Psst. Zephyr, I have something to tell you."
Crash still couldn't sleep and overheard Dark. "I'm in, Can't sleep anyway." He said as he got out of bed.
Zephyr's head hit the hard wooden floor with a loud thud. He laid there for a moment unmoving, his arms were sprawled out by his side in an awkward fashion and only one of his wings were retracted. Drool seeped from his mouth and slowly began to form a minuscule puddle on the floor. For a moment, the cobalt pegasus looked as if he had died right then and there, but then after a horrible moment of silence a snore was released from his mouth. That lazy colt was still asleep. Meanwhile in his mind he was bouncing around on what seemed to be colossal mushrooms of varying colors and height. Looking up to his top right he took a glance at his score. Only 300,000, that wasn't nearly enough to get another life up, that way he'd stay asleep. I mean, he only assumed after all. What else would happen when he runs out of lives? Die? Like he'd ever be in any real danger. Suddenly the world around him began to shake and a large throbbing pain began to surge from his head in a very obnoxious fashion. He then found himself unable to move, and as he examined his limbs they were sprawled out by his side in an awkward fashion and only one of his wings were retracted, all of them completely immobile. He gave up with the endeavor for a moment and inspected his surrounding once more when a look of utter horror washed over his face. There was a missile rushing towards him. He began to panic and he tug and tore at his limbs in a desperate gambit to free them of their invisible prison, but it was all for naught, the missile had reached it's destination sooner than he had thought it might. "Oh for fu-" His eyes opened up as he sprung forward, drool sent flying forward to meet with the faces of all those staring at him. "What?.... Wait, why am I on the floor?"
Dark Shine rubbed the back of his head with his hoof. "I shoved you out of bed. But its important. Me and Haze and Snow have all heard strange sounds coming from the Asylum. We are going to check it out. We were hoping you would come with. After all, we could use your skills."
Zephyr chuckles noticeably and wipes both the drool from his face and a tear from his eye. "Don't you think that's a bit excessive? Listen, I told you guys not to come if you were going to act like foals, haha" He rubbed the back of his head where he could feel a bump from his encounter with the floor. Maybe if he could find a hammer to knock the lump back into his head with, yes, that would work wonderfully. It always worked in the cartoons after all. "But I suppose if you need help, I'm not exactly one to turn you guys down, especially when you're shaking in your boots. Sure, I'll tag along."
Dark Shine smiled. "Good. Now I suppose we wait for Haze, Snow, Lucky and Tyro to come up. Then we can sneak out together as to not get lost or seperated."
Dr. Mentis did not seem to pay them any mind, but continued serving food. There was a salad in front of each of them now, with rather expensive-looking toppings. (No meat of course, Tyro.)
Tyro was amazed that this food could be pulled out at such short notice. It was just a shame it was still all vegetarian... "Fantastic!" Tyro lies, putting on a pleased face as he pulls some salad forwards, getting a dose of the vinegar dressing up each nostril. He takes a reluctant bite out the the lightly drizzled greenery and chews slowly, making sure to not let his disgust show on his face. "Lovely."
In the several minutes of wandering that he accomplished, he feels like he has only scratched the surface of this enormous building. He continues glancing about, until a voice from behind him makes him suddenly spin around to see who it is. Noticing the other pony who was with the doctor earlier, he sheepishly nods and rubs his mane with a hoof in an embarrassed gesture. "Yeah, it sure seems that way. I was trying to find where the guest sleeping quarters are, and must have taken a wrong turn... perhaps several. Mind leading the way?"
Haze looked at Tyro, confused with his response. She fell silent for a few seconds, unsure what to say next. When she gave up trying to talk, she looked behind her. The doctor was right behind them still, but still didn't seem to be paying any attention. Haze scanned the room, to check that nothing could over hear, and stuck her hoof beside her mouth. She then talked extremely quietly, so quietly even Tyro, who's ear she was whispering into, could only just understand what she was saying. "Meet us at the back of the Asylum, 11 O'clock." She then quickly pulled away and carried on nibbling her apple.
Dr. Mentis finished getting food (from the kitchen, which is in an adjacent room), and sat down to join them. He levitated a few strawberries to his plate and ate one of them. "I would say that is plenty of food for this late at night. Wouldn't you?" He nodded to himself. "Now, do any of you have any questions? I will be explaining everything about our facilities at breakfast tomorrow, but I wouldn't mind sharing a bit about Mentis Asylum right now!" Violet watched Lucky as he talked, with absolutely no emotion showing on her face aside from the perpetual half-frown that her mouth was in. "Certainly, sir." She led him down several hallways, all of which looked nearly identical except for the decorations, and arrived at the door to the bedrooms in less than two minutes. Lucky would have sworn there was something strange about the way she walked, but he couldn't quite place it by the time they got to the bedrooms. "Here you are. You shouldn't be wandering about in this house," she said, looking directly into his eyes. "It's not very polite to go nosing around somepony else's home." With that, she walked down the hall the way they had come, through the door, and out of his line of sight. Nopony in the bedrooms heard any of this. (Lucky is right outside the bedrooms.)
He finds it peculiar how Violet seems to always be so devoid of emotion each time he sees her. Glad to at least have some guidance back, he accompanies her through the spacious building. Each hallway they pass seems to be of similar design, but they all are decorated in different ways. He notices something seems off about Violet's gait, but can't quite pin it down. Before he knows it, they've already arrived at the bedrooms. "My apologies, and thank you for leading me back here." He acts like he's about to enter, but wants to figure out what seems off about the way Violet walks. So he makes sure she has passed out of sight, then quietly creeps over to where he lost track of her in hopes of catching a glimpse of where she's moving to.
