The way I see it, it's like the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync. We all know one or two of them are gay, but since thy're making money hand over fist in family entertainment marketed at young girls (though thre re a disturbing number of adult male fans) the ones that are (or int his case Lauren Fust) won't admit it until at least five year after they stop making that money. Or if the series lasts as long as Xena did and they need a new emotional trigger to bring in ratings. One thing I am often complimented on in my fan fics is my ability to keep characters... in character. I tend to watch and then build profiles for when I write, allowing the characters to think and respond to situations rather than setting them up themselves. That's where a lot of people go wrong when they add characters. Here are the profiles I have to date inr ference to this topic. Twilight Sparkle Sexuality: Lesbian and submissive Reason: Like Jean int he 3rd X-men movie Twilight had a lot of magial powers and little control. Thus other people, perhapse even her own parents were afraid of her and only too happy to pass her on to magic school and eventually Celestia at the first chance. Cloistred in he library where she coul learn control and not hurt anyone with only her adopted dragon son/assistant and Celestia herself for company the young pony developed a need to please based on the idea that Celestia might abandon her as her parents have (remmber magic kindergarten?). She foused ont hat so much that even by the time everyone forgot things liek the giant dragont hat destroyed half the palace, she had trouble socializing. She's doing better now that Celestia made it an assignment, but still has a few serious issues, incluing the need to please. It's possible that when she finds a lover they may die of exhaustion. Fluttershy Sexuality: Ambiguous. She loves everyone. Dominant. May have slight bondage or S&M tendancies. Reason: Often picked last, slow, and shy Fluttershy like Twilight developed a need to please and a huge inferiority complex. One of the reasons she likes animals so much is that they can't jusdge or make fun of her. Thi is so great that she doesn't even believe she's as pretty or prettier than Rarity. But at the same time she is beautiful and kind and has over the years gotten used to people and animals doing their best to cheer her up so that she does not cry. This has spoiled her somewhat ad when deprived of these asurances she seeks them out like a drug addict. In addition she does have some bottled up emotions that while she doesn't feel she deserves any special treatment, mistreat her friends or an animal and she will break a hoof off in your butt. I hooked those two up because Twilight needs someone who wouldn't mind being (at least in part) a substitute for Celestia and Fluttershy wants someon to love and care for like a pet who doesn't really know about her past being made fun of and who won't mind being a bit submissive to her romantically but loving her truely in everything else. It's easy to picture these two roleplaying things like "The naughty student and the strict teacher" involving a ruler. Rarity Sexuality: Straight, equal partner, but with interspecies leanings and may be willing to experiment. Probably a size queen. Reason: Only mane cast pony to have hit on guys or plan a date, recently learned that rich well bred ponies aren't all they're cracked up to be, and feels she deserves to be treated like a princess. Thanks to having a younger sister has learned generocity and sharing over the years (she had to when she stopped being an only child) and doesn't mind sharing her fortune witht hose who understand what a great person she is. Forget that and she can get a bit testy, but is self centered enough that she'll probably forget both good and bad things by the next episode. If she and Spike one day get together if it's a special occassion like his birthday she may be willing to invite Applejack over and get her drunk for a special birthday treat for her guy. Would probably not be so heistant to date Spike in hi adult form as she strikes me as being a sie queen from the word go. Plus Spike has contacts in high society so she'd get to visit the palace often. Provided he looks good she'd be very smug about it. Used to sharing everything and getting the same in return, but also competing with her bigger stronger brother an living up to her granny's legacy. In all likelyhood will end up with any guy who can beat her in a rodeo and looks good doing it and doesn't min working ont he farm. Perhapse some cowboy drifter type. Hopefully one not related to her, though with the size of her family that could be a stretch. Pinkie pie Sexuality: TOtal *squee!* Reason: Raised in a restrictive home Pinkie found freedom the day she threw her first party. Since then she's done whatever crazy thingpopped into her head and to heck with the consequences because it can't be as bad as her old life. That abnd the whole stripper-cake thing probably appeals to her. If any pony asks her she'd do just about anything, anytime, anywhere, with anyone or anything. Probably chatting through the whole thing and forgtting about it until the next time. Rainbow Dash Sexuality: Bi curious Reason: Dash probably doesn't think about her sexuality much, ut may have experimented with Gilda in flight camp. She's usually busy and focused on her dreams. However if a good looking mare or stalliona sked her out, she'd probably say yes without thinking twice. Likewise if someone challenged her to sleep with someone or many many someones, she'd probably do it just to prove that she is, the best. Spike Sexuality: Straight. Raised by ponies. Likes ponies. But may be tempted if a girl dragon ever shows up and shows an interest. Reason: Uh, th fact that he drools over female ponies in general and Rarity in particular. Fairly submissive, but take advantage of him and he'd probably stand up for himself, depending on if it's on purpose and for how long it goes on without any reward. Celestia and Luna Sexuality: Ambiguous Reason: While they probably enjoy physicl contact, thousands of years of watching potential lovers wither and die around them does tnd to put a cramp in the relationship. For example Celestia had to have a phoenix for a pet, just so she wouldn't outlive it. It also doesn't help that there are few if any other Alicorns and of those there are they probably wouldn't understand them much, what with the moon raising thing. However they must have tried at some point since there are pony royalty around like the "Prince" Rarity met at the Gala Cutie Mark Crusaders Sexuality: Undecided Reason: As yet they have not shown any interest in other ponies one way or another, though there are some questions about Appleblom and Zecora and Sweetie Belle + Scoots, but those are iffy at the moment. The closest they get it the rather obvious replacement of the "I'm the last girl in my class to get boobs" that is the hallmark of the cutie mark. Grown up my guess woul be Scoots might be gay due to her obvious crush on Rainbow Dash that mirrors Twilight's for Celestia and if Dash is still single when she gets bigger, she'll probably ask her out. Or eventually develope a crush on hr teacher Cheerilee. Sweetie Belle might be gay or bi, but will probably go for guys if for no other reason than to have more suitors and make her sister jealous. Applebloom might like Zecora, as I said, but unless the Zebra makes a move (perhapse taking on the role of teacher an letting her learn some of her potions and spells) she'll be a normal straight pony mostly based onw hat she's learned ont he fark and the fact that her family is extensive and obiously tends to grow a lot. Trixie Sexuality: Straight Reason: While it's fun to picture her beign seduced by a girl, ultimately as she is now (or so far int he series) trixie wants a bunch of guys to worship and adore her as she uses them, treating her liek a goddess or a princess simplary to Rarity, only with her giving nothing back in return. Clayton, as interesting as that was to read, it's all conjecture. I think the biggest problem that people have with this thread is that you are trying to sexualize a cartoon that has no definite sexualization in it whatsoever. You are just speculating. I see you are trying to use some evidence from the show, but you're merely combining pieces of show content with stereotypical assumptions to justify your claims. Take Pinkie Pie, for example. You are basing her entire behavior on her fillyhood and that she likes to throw parties. There's no evidence whatsoever that indicates anything more than she is a pony with a random sense of humor and likes to make other ponies smile. To me, her intentions are completely pure. Not what you've described. Basically, what you posted is the stuff of fanfics, not canon. There is nothing in there that's canon, except for the minor parts from the show you have cited. Otherwise, it's all speculation, and therefore, fanon.
They're fictional chracters. Their whol exitence, unless you can use quantum physics to prove it, is conjecture. We conjectured that the Backstreet boys were gay and it turned out, some were. In any case, it's all fictional. I get that. Why don't you? Arguing the point is conjecture. Saying that they aren't gay is as much conjecture as saying they are. I'm merely stating what I believe and why. Like the song says, "No squealin', remember that it's all in your head." Then again, Derpy's name and Doctor Whooves being a parody of Doctor Who wasn't cannon in the first season either... and look at them now. Yes, but I'm talking relative conjecture— if that makes sense. Relative to the canon that's been established in the show. Basically only from what we know from the show with speculation that's considered reasonable. Now, what you consider reasonable and what I consider reasonable is subject to subjectivism. I know what you are saying is completely reasonable in your mind. However, when I try to "overanalyze" the show, I try not to include things that are too far from the mark. You see, your speculation is something that has never even been really shown in the show except for the known canon couples and a few signs of affection like hugging, Rarity kissing Spike on the cheek and nuzzling. I just think sexualizing it is a bit over the top for canon's sake. In fanon, pfft, do whatever you want, I don't care. Heh. I do get that. I thought I made it obvious that I clearly understood that. I'm talking about relative conjecture, as I stated earlier. Yes, I know, but once again, I'm talking relative to canon. Lauren Faust has repeatedly stated that for the most part she and the peopl working ont he show haven't done anything witht heir sexuality one way or the other. Wasn't talking to you about the fictional thing ePONY. I know you get it. Doctor Whooves became cannon when they gave him a blue box shaped time device.
Side note: I did openly say I was getting stupid over it, I admit to being the one most heavily bothered by it. I'll follow my own good advice.
