The KGB officer took a step back for a moment, looking in confusion and horror as he suddenly began to realize his enemy. If these teenagers were truly from the future, then it was surely true what they are saying, right? He began to put the pieces together in his head about the motherland, thinking about the potential futures in his head. As much as he didn't want to believe that the Union was already slowly dying, he didn't want to go out like this. That's when he went to reach for his gun, but Crimson shot his sidearm with his rife. The rest of the girls stood at Circuit's side, as smoke escaped from the rifle. He was still aiming down his sights before a hand was put on his shoulder. "Let him live, Crim" Rarity told him. "His sentence will be worse then death in time..." The officer kept taking another step back before he was pressed up against the wall. "Time...." he thought, just as the Soviet reinforcements began to arrive.
"They're bringin' in backup!" observed Applejack. "Quick! Out the window!" ordered Twilight. "Three stories up?! Are you insane?!" remarked Pinkie in disbelief. Despite her downright bizarre ability to make correct guesses without even trying, and her occasional display of cartoonish behavior, even she was not immune to the harsh nature of gravity. "Climb, not jump!" replied Twilight agitatedly. They made their way out of the window. Suddenly, after reaching the ground, Fluttershy began to notice something was off. "Um, is it just me, or am I missing a fingertip?" she asked.
The group looked at Flutters fingers, before they begin to realize what had even happened. Meanwhile, the KGB and Soviet soldiers were busy chasing them down around the complex. The officer didn't pursue them, likely reveling in what just happened... Then the true horror began to unfold...
"Your finger... it seems to be fading into nothingness!" observed Twilight in alarm. "Oh great, we've triggered a butterfly effect!" said Rainbow Dash, angrily kicking up dust, "Just great!" "I don't think it was our fault," said Sunset, stroking her chin, "It only seems to have started after we got the phone back." "Maybe someone else has learned how to use time travel while we were gone?" asked Fluttershy. It wasn't beyond the realm of possibility. After all, someone could replicate their findings once they had been made. Someone with ill intentions. "Girls," said Circuit, "What if we just affected someone we knew? Someone who hated our guts already, but now has even more reason to? What if the man who took my phone was related to someone back home? A father or uncle, perhaps?" And then the memories came flooding back to Twilight. A certain classmate who had Stalinist sympathetic inclinations, who was the daughter of a former KGB member, who had it out for Twilight ever since she came to Canterlot High for the first time... "Starlight Glimmer..." muttered Twilight under her breath. "It would seem that she has not only built a time machine AND made it capable of letting you know when and where exactly you would end up, but she must be using it to erase us from history!" "Well, Twi, better get to work on another one, and fast," replied Applejack.
Fluttershy held onto her finger tip, which had vanished as she softly began to cry. Twilight quickly tried to create another time machine, which at the moment, was nothing short of a small device made out of a few pieces of metal. Just as the group thought they were able to reach safety, the KGB started to blast the door down. Then, another butterfly effect happened, as Crimson suddenly collapsed onto the floor.
Crim's right foot had begun to disappear. "Faster, Twi!" exclaimed Circuit, "Our continued existence depends upon it!" Twilight had converted the van into a time machine in record time. "I did what I could with the materials on hand," she said, "and because I couldn't cannibalize your phone, I had to make do with Russian 1980s computer parts. However, due to the rate of the butterfly effect," she added, as she noticed Rainbow Dash was beginning to lose her nose, "only one of us can go to the year 1998 to prevent our removal from the timestream." "I'll go," said Circuit instantly. "I never knew my real parents, so Starlight will have a harder time tracking them down, thus allowing me a bigger window to prevent change to the timeline." "All of our dates and places of birth have been pre-programmed into the machine. Godspeed, Circuit," replied Twilight, who was beginning to lose her left eye. Circuit floored the gas, and set off for the youngest of them: Fluttershy, who would be born on December 12, 1998.
Crimson's right foot began to dissolve into nothingness, as it acted like a virus heading up his body slowly. When Circuit left, that "Virus" was heading up his shin, and slowly dissolving his left foot. It seemed that if he was going to die, he was going to die from the bottom up. "He better survive..." Crimson said to the group sadly.
Circuit arrived at the Immediate Care Clinic in the suburb of Canterlot called Cloudsdale, on December 12, 1998. He hoped he had made it at the proper time to confront Starlight. ----- In the parking lot of the building adjacent to the Immediate Care Clinic, a strange noise could be heard. It sounded like a key scratching against a piano wire. The noise slowly got louder as a ball of light began to materialize. The ball grew, and then faded out of existence, revealing a crater with a young woman inside. She looked to be about seventeen years old, and she had very light purple skin, purple hair with a cyan highlight done in a ponytail, and greyish-purple eyes. She was dressed in an outfit that harkened back to the Soviet era. And she held a knife in her hand. Starlight Glimmer was out for revenge...
The baby Fluttershy had just been delivered at night, and was being held in the arms of her parents lovingly. Her mother and father never looked more proud of their daughter in their entire lives, especially since she looked so little as well. The doctor and two other nurses stood proudly at the child, their work was done. But they were unaware of what was about to happen...
Circuit looked into the parking lot of the building next to him. It had a crater in it. It was large enough to hold an Austrian bodybuilder, let alone a Russo-American teenage girl. There seemed to be footprints from it as well. Circuit followed them as they lead him to the back door of the Clinic. He opened it, and there she was, standing in the hallway in front of a door, disguised as a nurse, knocking on the door, knife behind her back. "YOU!!" Circuit had grabbed her attention.
The doctors and Flutters parents turned around to face the nurse in surprise, as the disguised Starlight knew that her cover was blown. Instead of risking to take out Babyshy immediately, she raised her knife up and went to charge Circuit instead. Unsurprisingly, she turned out to be adept with her knife...likely from her father's training.
Fortunately, whether by luck or by instinct, Circuit managed to evade the knife. "Did the Soviets watch Psycho as part of their combat training?" asked Circuit sarcastically, "Because that's not an efficient way to use a knife." "How did you kno--" "Oh, you didn't think we'd piece it together as we faded into goddamn oblivion?!" Circuit replied snidely, as she charged forward again. This time, Circuit made it a point to knock the knife out of her hand. He picked it up and said, "Now I want answers, or I slit your throat."
Starlight smirked as she managed to somehow evade Circuit's blade, knocking the blade out of his hand before catching it. She quickly delivered a blow to Circuit to stun him, unable to take down Fluttershy as her parents were now aware. While stunned, she quickly ran at full sprint towards the window as a blue orb suddenly picked up around her, before she vanished in a spark of blue light. Fluttershy's parents looked terrified that someone had tried to murder their newborn baby, and desperately tried to keep themselves, and most importantly the baby, safe from harm.
Circuit staggered to his feet. "Sorry about that," he said to Fluttershy's parents awkwardly, "Take of your daughter, huh?" And with that, he bolted out of the room and got into the van. He drove off and went to his next destination: Los Angeles, California on November 20, 1998. The date and place of Rainbow Dash's birth...
Meanwhile, in 1986 Fluttershy suddenly returned back to her normal self, as everything that she lost before suddenly re-appearing. Despite the fact she was literally only a head, torso and right arm before. "Guys! I think it's working!" She told them. ----------------------------------- November 20, 1998. Starlight managed to get lucky and appear on the roof of the hospital where Rainbow Dash was born, still in her nurse outfit, where she quickly escaped down the stairs to take out Rainbow. It seemed a blade won't just do, she was going to use more force. She walked down the hallway with a silenced Beretta 92FS in her pocket, and opened the door to her room. Her parents were fast asleep from a night spent in labor, along with the tiny Rainbow in her crib fast asleep...
Circuit had also lucked out, somehow materializing the van onto the exact floor that Rainbow Dash was resting in. He walked out of the van, and before a passing surgeon could so much as say, "Sir, we do not allow vehicles inside the building," Circuit asked him in a panic, "There was a baby born today on this floor! Where is she?" "Uh... What does the baby look like?" asked the surgeon nervously. "Cyan skin, whisps of rainbow-colored hair," Circuit explained. "It is very important that I see this baby! It's a matter of life and death!" "What do you mean?" Circuit simply replied, "I'm here to prevent a murder." The surgeon's eyes widened. "Down the hall, third door on the left." Circuit ran away and made his way to the room. It had seemed he had arrived just in time, as Circuit saw Starlight preparing to kill the unknowing infant. Circuit picked up a first aid kit, and chucked it at the back of Starlight's head, stunning her and causing her to fall on her side. Circuit then triggered the alarm with one hand, turning on the lights with the other. This roused the parents from their slumber. "What the hell..." mumbled the father. He looked over at Starlight's splayed, unconscious figure, pistol still in hand. "OH CHRIST!" "What's wrong, hone--OH MY GOD!!" The mother had also noticed the unconscious false nurse. "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!?" "That woman was about to murder your daughter," said Circuit, "No time to explain why, she could wake up at any second. Come with me if you want to live." They did as they were told, the mother grabbing the sleeping infant. They ran out of the room, as Starlight slowly staggered to her feet. "I can't believe I finally got to say that!" Circuit said to himself.
Starlight woke up and looked at the now empty room, grumbling at the fact that she was unable to prevent yet another attack. Just before security arrived, she picked up that same First-Aid kit and threw it at the window, before jumping out the window. Where she suddenly sparked blue once again, and vanished into nothingness. She wasn't done yet however, as she instead tried to focus on another victim. Time and time again, she was foiled by Circuit. In the end, she had yet to try and kill two more infants. Circuit and Crimson...
May 7, 1998 Circuit had successfully saved Applejack and her parents. Suddenly, he realized that he couldn't feel his left thumb. "Young man, ah coulda sworn ya had two thumbs," said Applejack's father. "Crap!" shouted Circuit. He checked his hand to see that his thumb had indeed vanished. "Oh well, I can fix that. Just take good care of your daughter," said Circuit, as he ran back to the van, and set the date to what happened to be his birthday: April 16, 1998. He would be materializing in a backalley in Detroit. Knowing full well that he had never met his parents, he wanted to make sure that they died knowing they had not failed. Despite his missing thumb, Circuit managed to take the van into gear and go to the set date. He also grabbed a Walther P99 so that he could make Starlight pay...
Starlight was equally armed, now armed to the teeth with weaponry to make sure that Circuit would pay. She materialized a fair distance away from Circuit on a rooftop, far out of his range, as she aimed a sniper rifle through the glimpse of sight with a Barrett 50cal Sniper Rifle. She wasn't going to fail this time...
Unfortunately for her, Circuit had somehow managed to materialize on the rooftop behind her. Circuit stepped out, took aim, and fired his pistol into the back of Starlight's knee. Almost immediately, Starlight had collapsed to the floor. "... Why can't I just kill you people?" she groaned. Her injury had weakened her, as she was bleeding profusely. Circuit simply picked her up, tied her up, threw her into the back of the van, and locked her in. While doing this, he noticed that his thumb had reappeared. He had done it. He had saved his friends. But before he could return to 1986, he had something to take care of. He looked through the scope and saw a man with pale green skin and jet-black hair, sitting next to a pink-skinned, yellow-haired woman, who was cradling a baby with gray skin and whisps of chestnut hair. Both of the adults seemed to be bleeding out from gunshot wounds, which didn't seem to have been inflicted by Starlight. Circuit went down to this spot and walked up to his parents. "Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad." "Who... are you?" asked the man weakly, "I hope you're not one of those barbaric Crips..." Good thing he doesn't know what his baby will be doing for the next six years, Circuit thought. "I'm not," Circuit replied. "I'm your son, Circuit Breaker, from seventeen years in the future." This seemed to bring smiles to the dying couple. "We don't have much time, son..." said his mother. "I know," replied Circuit, "which is why I wanted to tell you... I love you, and you don't have to worry about how I'll turn out. I'll be fine." Their smiles brightened. "We're sorry we won't be able to be part of your life, son," said his father, "But we want you to know... we're proud of you and we love you." "Thanks..." said Circuit, as both parents passed on. Circuit sobbed slightly before leaving to return to the van. He set the date: January 31, 1986. He was going back.
