Canterlot City seemed to be a good place to start, since it was at the forefront centre of the arcane on the West Coast. Magic was almost dominant there, and was also becoming a centre of technological development as well. Some of the rich elite however, aside from being anti-magic,unfortunately were racist due to a rich upbringing. They would be the first.
Filthy Rich was counting his money at the business meeting with his local business partner, Money Bags. Both of them planned to use their money to fund an anti-mage mayor candidate, in order to protect their livelihood. They didn't notice the leather-clad, cyan-skinned girl approaching from behind them, unleashing the same type of lightning blast that skinned the last Nazi. They were disintigrated before they felt a thing.
Both of their deaths made shockwaves in the media, shocking many locals about the seemingly 'unprovoked' attack. The anti-magic media decided to exploit this as fast as they could, ridiculing all mages for being abominations and rallying support for their own anti-magic candidates. All they really did however, was just sign their own death warrants
In the following weeks, more and more anti-mage activists started to disappear. Eventually, the attacks spread outside the city of Canterlot, from New York to Honolulu, from Ontario to Rio de Janero. It was as if a mage was trying to wipe out the enemy. Little did Rainbow Dash's friends know that she was involved.
As more and more anti-mage activists began to vanish, the attacks multiplied in size and occurred much more frequently. North America wasn't safe anymore, and the attacks soon gained recognition and infamy everywhere else on the planet. Many seen this growing movement as a terrorist movement, and were rightly scared about what was happening. Europe was the next area of the movement to spread, spreading like wildfire once the attacks originated in Paris. From there, it spread across the rest of Europe and the Mediterranean. London, Budapest, Barcelona, Rome, Moscow were seen as some of the more violent areas of these attacks. But the attacks would stop there, soon heading into the Middle-East, where magic was completely outlawed by sharia law. The Middle-East was quite simply the most dangerous place in the world after the events of the Millennium Mage and the events that transpired there, along with the discovery of magic completely disrupting the already fragile political situation there. But once it reached China.....all hell broke loose
China was a stronghold for anti-mage politics, which half the population supported. One day, it was as if half of China had dropped dead.
As the populations of India and China were decimated, this began to have a ripple effect on humanity. Millions of people began to die from the irradiated water from India.
Populations collapsed in areas around Asia, some countries being completely depopulated entirely. Millions of refugees fled to anywhere they could find shelter, being Europe, Australia or America. Unfortunately, the witch-hunts had begun. Mankind was beginning to unite to fight against the mages of the world, bringing a dark time to human history.
