With the others gathered after some frantic phone calls back and forth on the mobile, Rainbow and all of her friends had gathered in two different vehicles to help accommodate the large group. Rainbow Dash was in a police car with Winter, who quickly swapped for a better use of protection. Winter sped across the city with the sirens on, dressed from head to toe in her police uniform. Nearby was her sidearm and everything they needed to save Circuit. Sunset sat in the back seat, along with Rarity and Pinkie Pie. Crimson was in the other car, specifically his own black muscle car that carried Applejack & Fluttershy, with a spare seat for Circuit when they reach him. While nowhere near as armored as the police car, it could outrun it with some fancy driving. The separate car also acted as a distraction from the main group should the Changelings be aware of their attackers. Only mere moments before Chrysalis vanished with Circuit, Crimson was able to track her down to the sewers of Canterlot after managing to trace Circuit's location through his mobile GPS. Sunset also said that the Changelings in her world preferred dark and cold areas, and the more hospitable or unattractive was the better. Where exactly was difficult, and they was no exit. There was, however, an entrance where the sewage drains met the ocean...
As they pulled up to the coast, Rainbow Dash figured they had only one shot to get Circuit out. If they messed up, he was done for. They had to make it count.
"Gosh, it smells bad" Applejack said, covering her nose as they all stood at the edge of the sewer opening. The smell was unbearable, a mixture of everything repulsive mixed in with the unnatural aurora of the Changelings. 'We have no idea how many there are going to be in there" Sunset told the group. "But if the Queen tries to lay a new wave of spawn, then Canterlot and humanity is done for. We need to stop her permanently."
It was pitch black inside, so Winter turned on her flashlight to fend this off. Rarity began to hiccup and gag. "I remember this place..." she said in terror, "She brought me here before taking my form..." She shivered as the terrible memories came back to her.
Winter looked at her concerned. "Do you happen to remember anything in detail about it?" She asked. "Something about where to go, defenses, all that stuff?" Rarity shivered. "No...but I remember that those....things are not even human. All I can remember is waking up near the center of this nest and seeing nothing but... monsters..." Meanwhile, Fluttershy 'eeped!' quietly at the thought of Rarity's words.
"Lower your voice, Fluttershy!" cautioned Pinkie Pie, in a near-whisper with almost Shakespearian inflection, "We don't want them to find us..."
After the next half an hour, the group made their way deeper and deeper into the putrid nest of the Changeling Sewers. The walls began to be filled with moss, until strangely bits of dried up mud began to truly emulate the feel of a Hive. One thing did feel off however. Within the last half an hour, there was literally no sign of life. No enemy Changelings, no workers or guards, nothing. Normally they'd be all over the place, but instead it felt totally empty. "I have a bad feeling about this" Crim said quietly. "Where do you think they would all be?" Sunset scratched her head, curious to why the Changelings haven't been looking for them. "I don't know honestly, but I think we've arrived while they are hibernating or helping the Queen lay her egg......oh dear" "What?" Pinkie asked. Sunset's eyes shrunk to the size of a pea. "I think I know exactly where they are..."
Suddenly, Rainbow spoke. "I have an idea," she said calmly, "What we need is a distraction. Somebody needs to lure a few of them out of her Majesty's quarters, while someone else kills them silently and slowly." "Are you outta yer mind?" admonished Applejack, "That there'd be suicide!" "Just trust me on this."
Suddenly, all eyes darted towards Crimson and Winter. Crimson just sighed. "What do you want me to do?"
"Perfect, we have a volunteer," said Rainbow Dash, "You're the bait." "What about me?" asked Winter. "You're a cop, right? You're perfect for silent takedowns." "Are you sure about this?" "If nobody has a better idea..." No one replied, and there was a brief silence. "Right then..." declared Rainbow, "I have complete faith in both of you." If Rainbow Dash was not mistaken, attacking her children would alert Chrysalis, sending her towards the source, and away from Circuit. And she was counting on not being mistaken.
Crimson sighed deeply. "What a pain.." The two of them walked ahead of the group and made their way towards the front nest, where mother and son would ultimately prepare themselves for what could be a fight. If they failed at a silent elimination, then they would both be responsible for the end of mankind. Something that didn't go down well within Crim's mind. Soon, the two of them stopped nearby the door of what could have been the Queens lair. They were unsure, as even the Queen didn't seem to have guards protecting her from the outside.
Winter handed her son a smoke pellet. "Roll it underneath the door," she whispered, "That'll get their attention."
Crim went to his knees and quickly threw the smoke pellet underneath the door, hearing a loud hiss coming from the other side and sounds of confusion. Crimson backed up against a wall as well, before Winter tapped him on the shoulder and handed him what appeared to be a gun, already equipped with a silencer and fully loaded. "I brought a spare." She joked about. Soon, the two of them were pressed against a wall as suddenly five Changelings went through the door, as smoke billowed out of the door. Then, Crimson and Winter vanished into the smoke.
Soon, there were very faint sounds coming from the smoke, but when it subsided, there seemed to be more then five Changelings on the ground. There turned out to have been more inside that investigated. So instead of the target five, almost twenty inhuman bodies were on the ground. Standing above them were Winter and Crim, who looked rather dirty and covered in dust and the faintest amount of blood.
"We got 'em. What now?" said Winter into her walkie-talkie. "Come back as fast as you can," responded Rainbow Dash. "And be careful... there's acid pits around here..."
The two started to head back to the main group, rather avoiding an encounter with the Changelings. Although, they couldn't hide the bodies of at least twenty dead "monsters". Meanwhile, Crimson was accidentally scratched in the middle of the scuffle on his cheek by a claw. While it drew little blood, it would have now made him a target if the Changelings can smell blood.
