The New Kid was taken back as another girl hugged the boy he was just talking to. From what he gathered, he could tell that the two of the could have been in a relationship of some sort. Once the two stopped, the New Kid took the moment to introduce himself.

"My names Crimson Lionheart, just recently moved here from Australia."

 

Crimson felt kinda awkward about how Rainbow was already professing her love for Circuit, where Circuit tried his best to keep up with the conversation. He was the new kid and he was already watching something romantic occur between the two lovebirds within the first five minutes of his first day at school.

Before he could think about something, some handouts were given to each member of the class about the upcoming School Prom that was going to occur in a few weeks. Everybody in the class was talking about it, while Crimson felt kinda left out. He transferred at halfway into the year, meaning that he knew nobody other then the boy he just met and the girl that just hugged him. In other words, he arrived at the wrong time:

He had to try his best to make a good impression on the students of the school, which he hoped wasn't hard. He already had his hands full. He had to make a good impression and prepare for the formal. He didn't know anyone that he could take for the date, which caused him to sigh as he read the document. He doubted that any of the girls would take an interest in him before the formal, he was far too new.

He looked at the handout, cursing his luck.

 

The rest of the first day went smoothly until lunch, where Circuit and Crimson were invited by Rainbow to sit with her friends. Sunset had chosen to sit elsewhere for today, but she still could see Crimson and Circuit across the cafeteria. While the group talked, Rainbow took the opportunity to cement the fact that her and Circuit were going to the Prom together. Crim continued to eat his lunch however, before Rarity decided to get a conversation going. A few tables away, Sunset was eating in her lonesome. However, she wanted to eavesdrop on what the new kid was like, since she would never have the courage to ask him herself.

"How has your first day been here, Crimson? How do you find America?" Rarity asked Crimson.

"It's been really cool so far. Although, I had no idea that the prom is coming up so early. I thought that it would have happened near the end of the year."

"Oh, that's kind of a shame. Guess you had no idea about it though." Rarity said. "Speaking of which, how are you at relationships. I'm sure that plenty of the girls here want to be at your side." Sunsets ears perked up while she was eating, taking a keen interest in what was being said. Listening carefully.

"Well...I've never been successful at them honestly. Nobody has ever taken an interest in me, and when they do, the relationship doesn't last long before I'm cheated on. Being new here and having formal coming up in a few weeks is pretty nerveracking"

Sunset continued to look at Crimson while she spoke. She had been looking at him all day, although she wasn't sure why. There was something about him. She would have liked to talk to him, but fears of her past would discourage her to step away. She watched the group eat before noticing Pinkie wave at her.

"HEY SUNSET!" Pinkie called out, which caused Sunset to quickly look away from Crimson before he noticed, which caused her to blush. Pinkie had noticed what Sunset had been doing all day, since they had the same classes. She noticed what was going on, as she looked at Crimson with a sly grin on her face.

"Crimson, I think someone has a crush on you..."

 

"D-demon?" Crimson replied before looking over at Sunset, who once again looked away at him once she noticed that he was looking at her. "I'll...see what I can do."

Crimson got up from the table and quietly went over to Sunsets table without her noticing. She tried to look up again at the table to find that Crimson had vanished. Before her thoughts raced up to indicate that he was gone, someone had decided to sit with her without her noticing.

"Looking for somebody" Crimson said quietly. This caused Sunset to almost jump ten feet into the air before looking at Crimson. She wasn't sure what to do. She kept looking at Crimson from a distance so that she didn't hurt him. But now that he was sitting right next to her, she didn't know what to do.

"Oh! I...um....err..." Sunset tried to speak, trying to play things as cool as possible. It wasn't working, she was a drooling mess before her crush. She desperately wanted to ask him to be her date for the prom, although she wasn't sure if she was taking things far to quickly. She didn't even know why he was being so...friendly, to her.

Meanwhile, the rest of Rainbows friends and Circuit watched what was happening.

 

Before Crimson could speak, it was actually Sunset who made the offer. Sunset was almost shaking when she tried to speak, scared about what his reaction would be. She pictured that after the stories that he must have heard about her at this point, he would push her away like everyone else has.

"Um...I understand that you are new here and all. But...I was just.....if we could....I was asking that...." Sunset felt sick in the stomach about what she was thinking, picturing nothing but utter rejection on a boy she has already developed a crush on. She then looked around as she heard some words from other tables that looked at her in disgust. While it was quiet, they were loud enough for her to hear.

"Can't believe that she's even talking to him"
"Maybe she's trying to brainwash him"
"I don't trust her"
"Why hasn't the principal expelled her?"
"Luckily, we're not zombies anymore"
"She might try it again, don't tempt her"

"Are you ok?" Crimson asked Sunset, his voice bringing Sunset out of her trance as she snapped her head back to the boy next to her. She didn't want to admit it, but she was absolutely petrified. She couldn't feel anything other then utter fear. For more reasons then one. She tried her best to get something out, to answer his concern.

"W-what? What do you mean?"

"You're shaking all over." Crimson pointed her out. "You're not getting sick, are ya?"

"No. No I'm not" Sunset assured him nervously. At this point, she was shaking like a leaf. She felt grateful that this boy was being friendly to her, but she was scared of the outcomes in her head. Her eyes darted around the room, all the while a certain Flash Sentry was looking at the two with daggers in his eyes. When she looked at him, everything got worse. Every student in the school basically hated her, even if she was trying her best to atone for what she has done. It want because of her inability to ask the boy to be her prom date that she was so afraid, it was everything else she feared. She didn't want to hurt him.

She stood up from her table and tried her best to hide her fears, although they completely dominated her at this point. Sunset looked at Crimson again, who began to show serious concern. She didn't cry, although her tears began to well up in her eyes.

"I-Im sorry....I don't want to hurt you." Sunset said before she suddenly ran out of the cafeteria, all the while she tried her best not cry. She pushed open the doors of the cafeteria as she ran through them and into the hallways, vanishing a moment later.

Meanwhile, a concerned Crimson watched her run out of the cafeteria. A part of him demanded him to follow the girl he had just met, try and find her and assure her that everything's alright. The other half of him also said that if he was to do so, he would very well be making enemies across the school already. He didn't care about the second option though.

With his mind set, he left the table and walked out the door of the cafeteria to the hallways.

 

Crimson searched pretty much everywhere across the school until coming across the final place that he wasn't able to search, the girls bathroom. The rest of Rainbows friends decided to come with him. Once they were outside the door, Fluttershy decided to fetch Sunset. She found her inside the disabled toilet, her feet on the toilet seat to hide them from anyone that went past with the lights off. She was crying into her legs as her shoulders bounced with each whimper and sob. Sunset was talking to herself while she cried, although it was muffled by her legs and it was almost impossible to tell what she was saying. Fluttershy was able to get out "Stupid", "Horrible" and "Demon" out of Sunset's muttering.

By the time that Fluttershy managed to bring Sunset out, she was a mess. She sat Sunset down onto a bench, all the while that Crimson sat next to her patting her back and trying to assure her that everything was alright.

 

Sunset was still upset, although she tried to get a smile to come out. "Thank you." She said before turning to the rest of the girls. "For everything, you're the best. Guess everything's getting to me all at once, just terrified me."

She then turned towards Crimson, clear embarrassment on her face. She didn't even bother to hide it, she wanted to speak truly. "Um....Crimson? I was just asking if...you would like to go to the prom with me?"

Crimson happily smiled before hugging Sunset. "Of course."

Crimson wore a fairly impressive looking dark grey suit with a black tie. During the last three weeks, Sunset had been trying to get to know him better while generally keeping away from on most days. From Pinkie Pie had told him, she was really nervous about the Prom. To the point of almost having nightmares about it, of being thrown out and rejected by the school once again.

But when Sunset arrived, she blew everybody away. She looked absolutely stunning, enough to make Crimson and plenty of students speechless. Sunset wore a sparkling red dress that twinkled like diamonds, while she had make-up and all sorts of things to make her look as pretty as possible. She went over to Crimson slowly before stopping right next to him. She looked like an absolute goddess, and to think that she used to be the biggest bully in the school.

"So, what do you think?" Sunset said to Crimson, who's jaw was still left unattached.

"Sunset...you look absolutely beautiful." Crimson told her. Sunset's face beamed with happiness upon hearing his response. The two turned around to see Circuit dance to Smooth Criminal.

Without warning, Crimson walked right next to Circuit and joined in with the dance, their movements and timing were absolutely perfect in the songs dance solo. They clearly had been practising this for a while. Sunset couldn't help but feel the smile on her face grow larger. For the first time in what seemed like forever, she was truly happy.

However; she still had what would soon be the best night of her life to go.

 

Crimson and the rest of the school could help but feel happy for Circuit and Rainbow. Sunset could hide it as well before she looked at Crimson, wondering about the same thing. As much as she wanted to kiss him now, she wanted her first kiss to be something special. She figured that it would have been better if the two were in private, although a side of her wanted everybody in the entire school to see it.

In the corner, Flash Sentry and three other boys in the corner were eying down Crimson intently with a scowl on their faces. Nobody knew what was going on in Flash's head, but he had a plan. He didn't want the others to be involved, this was to remove Crimson out of the picture entirely. He didn't know why he decided to do what he was going to do tonight. It could have been about anything. However, there was one important key figure about the murderous intent he had tonight, the reason that these attacks were going to affect the one that cared the most for him. Sunset

Flash looked at his three other 'associates'. Curly Winds, Ringo and Brawly Beats and gave them the attack plan. "Brawly, get the biggest thing you can find. He should be leaving at 11, so you have about an hour or so to get this done. Your costume should be inside your locker already." Brawly then quietly retrieved his costume, a leathery mask of a wolf alongside a black hoodie, gloves, cargo pants and boots. Every one of Flash's friends had an exact pair of these in their locker, although each of them had a different animal mask. In Sentry's case, it was a rooster.

It was currently 9.50pm, and Brawly had left the prom in order to carry out the attack, vanishing into thin air. Flash and the rest of his friends were going to leave at twenty to eleven in order to watch everything unfold, then mop up everything afterwards. Whatever they were going to do, it was undeniably well planned.

All they had to do was wait.

 

10.55pm

Quite a few people had already left the prom, some of them having to get some sleep and all. Crimson and Sunset were still around, although Crimson would have to drive home in a minute. The two of them sat alone in the middle of the soccer pitch, miles away from where the prom was occurring. Sunset took the opportunity to kiss Crimson like she had been waiting for all night, the kiss turning into a passionate one fairly quickly. The two of them continued to make out until 10.58, when Crimson had to leave. He looked at Sunset as he held her.

"I love you, Crimson" she said sleepily. Crimson couldn't help but smile as she carried her back to the prom. Once he placed her down, he said his goodbye's to the rest his friends and took to go home.

11.16pm

Crimson was driving home across the streets of Canterlot, extremely happy about the amazing night he had. He was driving home alone, with almost no cars other then himself on the road. He came to a stop at an intersection between two suburban streets.

Meanwhile, an enormous pickup truck was steamrolling on the road opposite of him. The lights turned on the moment that Crimson was in view at the intersection and was rapidly gaining speed.

When the lights turned green and nobody else on the road, Crimson drove off towards his home. Around half a second later, a three ton pickup truck hit Crimsons side of the car in a violent crash that completely devastated the smaller car, while the larger truck received minimal damage. While Crimson had survived the car, as was their intentions, the injured drives looked around to only to see a masked figure in an Animal mask wearing black step out of the car. Crimson's mangled car door was then torn from whatever was holding it together and tossed aside, while the heavily injured Crimson was taken by the neck and thrown out of the car and onto the ground below. This wasn't a crash, this was a deliberate attack.

Three more figures in animal masks then appeared from the shadows as Crimson was pinned up to rest against his car and was then beaten to an inch of his life. As soon as they came, the strangers in the animal masks had their fun and quickly vanished into the night without a trace.

By the time that authorities were contacted, a new nightmare was going to begin.
