Hello all! I know there is bound to be at least one other fan of the Mother series here on everypony.com! So to start this discussion off let me ask you all a few things: 1. What is your favorite game in the series? 2. Who's your favorite character? 3. Any music from the series you find especially awesome? 4. What drew you into the series initially? 5. What do you like the most about the series as a whole? And now I'll answer these questions myeslf! 1. Earthbound is my favorite game in the series. Mother 3 definitely comes close, but I will always have a place in my heart for Earthbound. 2. My favorite character at the moment would probably have to be Ness. I know, it's the generic answer to the question, but Kumatora does come close! 3. A LOT of the music in the series is awesome to me personally. If there is one song that I fondly hold on a pedestal above the rest, it would have to be this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VfaSl-KpNQ 4. My introduction to this series was actually a painfully slow one, much much slower than my introduction to MLPFiM. I'm pretty sure my first real encounter with the series was through reading the Nintendo Power article on the fandom. The article made me mildly curious, as I didn't know that there could be such a dedicated following to an old video game like Earthbound. It wasn't until much later that I started slowly seeing Earthbound related posts on the internet. Gamefaqs has always been a favorite gaming site of mine, and occasionally I would see people discuss the game there. Over time, I started wanting to try the game out, as it seemed somewhat interesting. The thing that really made me go out and try it though was this video review of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiLkR8BaGa8 After watching the video, I decided to download the game and give it a try. What drew me in initially and still does to this day is the offbeat and quirky vibe that the game as a whole gives off. It seemed so out of place for a Super Nintendo game, No game has ever made me as sad as Mother 3 has. Well, that's everything I have to say at the moment! I surely do hope there is at least one other Mother fan here!
1. What is your favorite game in the series? Earthbound/Mother2. 2. Who's your favorite character? I haven't played enough of it to really say he's my absolute favorite, but Flint from Mother 3 was pretty cool. Felt bad for him and his family. 3. Any music from the series you find especially awesome? F-F-Fire! from Mother 3 comes to mind right off. I also enjoyed the final battle, ending and credits themes from Earthbound. 4. What drew you into the series initially? It was 1999. I had just discovered the ZSNES and was looking for some RPGs that I missed back in the day to play, and that's when I started reading stuff about Earthbound and how it was totally unlike any RPG released in that it was was set in a real life setting instead of a fantasy world and how you played as a bunch of kids on an epic adventure rather than a bunch teenagers/adults fighting against an evil Empire or whatnot. 5. What do you like the most about the series as a whole? What originally drew me towards the game/series, and that's the unique(for its time) setting.
