Samuel looks up and sees all of the beautiful stars in the sky, "It is a beautiful night that Princess Luna has provided for us tonight." Samuel took off his wagon hitches and turned around to face the rickety old gal. She had made it another trip without giving him any trouble. He began to undo the straps he had put on. He took out the blankets and apples and laid them by the fire and he smiled, "I only grabbed a few items because of my haste. I'm very sorry." Samuel bowed his head and then laid on the ground near the fire. "How have you been?" Samuel asked as he began to settle down
"I'm fine, lonely, but fine nonetheless. Tell me do you believe everypony has a star in the sky and if so where is yours?" asks Rashall.
Samuel looked to the sky and pondered for a moment. The fire was warm and the colors were dance across his face, "You know I could believe that for sure." He looked across the sky and found a star that was a little dimmer than the rest around it. The star seemed to be so far away and yet it looked right at home with the others. He pointed out to the sky in the area, "well I'd say somewhere around there." He smiled and looked at the pony across from him, "so what do you believe?"
"In what, which star is mine?" Rashall points towards a start that is dark yet bright in the same sense, you notice it is almost all alone.
Samuel strains a bit to look exactly where the pony is pointing. He spots the star, the shine from it fading in and out slowly. "That is quite a star," Samuel spoke still in a hushed tone, "interesting that it has no other star near it." He began circling his hoof in the sand, a bit of an awkwardness developing while he choose his sentence carefully. "So Rashall," Samuel began, "Why do you live so far from Ponyville? There are plenty of homes there." Samuel grimaced, for he did not feel like his question was asking exactly was on his mind. He continued looking down at his hoof, "I just mean, it is really nice out here but sometimes it is nice to have other ponies near by you can count on if you need something." Samuel looked over to Rashall, the fire still dancing across the ground and the shadows it cast were becoming a little eerie to a tired eye.
"My house is somewhere in the woods near here, but not in the Everfree forest. There should be a small grove about a mile and a half away from town, that's where I grew up when I was young. Like I told Clef it's been eleven years since I moved from that house. I hope to find it again and live in it once more." said Rashall.
Samuel smiled and nodded at the pony. He understood what Rashall had ment about finding an old family home. It seemed like the two of them had more in common than he had thought. It seemed like they had both been alone for the better part of their lives and Samuel knew what it was like to rely on one's self for everything. "This is a wonderful camp you have set up," Samuel said in his usual tone, now that he was pretty sure the other pony was sleeping deeply. "If you'd like anything made I am very good with my hooves," he smiled and felt like these two ponies he had met were turning out to be a lot more like friends than clients.
"You must be tired from all the work you did today, if you want to sleep there is more room in the tent where Clef is." says Rashall looking at yet another friend.
Samuel nodded slowly as he pulled one of the blankets, he brought with him, over his body. The night air had a bit of a crisp chill to it and the moon and stars were lighting the sky. The fire had already began to calm and the cinders could be seen glowing red. "It has been a wonderful day, but as you said it may be best to turn in for the night," Samuel said with a slight yawn. Samuel had gained a few friends today and had built things he had never dreamed of. His quest to make newer better chariots for the princesses was a little closer to his grasp. Samuel laid his head across his hooves and blinked a few times, "Good Night Rashall." Samuel drifted off to sleep. He didn't often sleep on the bare ground, but It was his preference if he did not have a cloud near him. The firmness and warmth of the Equestria made him feel quite at peace.
"Good night to you as well if you need me I will be asleep in my tent." said Rashall, gaining two friends in a single day was a wonder-us thing. The next day Rashall got up early and started to fix breakfast and waited for the smell to wake the other two up.
Clef wakes up with groggy eyes and gets out of his sleeping bag he cracks his back and smelled something delicious. "What is that smell!" he said, he opens his tent to see that Samuel was here too "darn must have fallen asleep when he came," he smelled the air again to see Rashall was coking up something "Rashall what is that delicious food you are making!" he exclaimed.
He walks over to Rashall to those delicious sweet cakes "these do look pretty good," he said. He looks over to Samuel still sleeping "so what did you guys talk about when I was asleep," he said. He grabs a sweet cake and munches it down "wow that is delicious!" he said "better than my snacks i made,".
Samuel rolled over and tried to ignore the other two talking. He wasn't a morning person. Never had been never will be. The sun was bright in the morning sky and the dew was still on the grass. Samuel opened one eye reluctantly. His body was a little achy from being on the floor so he stretched out and heard his body crack a little. "morning you two," he mumbled out as he rolled over again to face them. His hair was matted and dirt was tangled in it. The ground was dry because it had yet to rain this week. Samuel stood up and set next to Clef and just stared blankly into the fire.
"Thank you for the complement Clef, whats up with you this morning Samuel you seem out of it this morning." said Rashall looking at the pony that had just woken up.
He looks towards Samuel to see his mane he snickered "hey dude you might want to look in a mirror," he said laughing. He takes another sweet cake and was about to eat it but he looks a Samuel again and gives him the sweet cake "here you go!" he said "they are delicious,". He looks at Rashall and says "hey so what about that home all of us can start to do some cleaning!" he said excitedly.
Samuel looked back and forth between the two ponies. He was not awake enough for this crew. He shook his hair back and forth and it fell into his face. Most of the dirt had come out, but it had lost all of it's body overnight. Samuel blinked a few times, "I'm just not a morning pony." He took the sweet cake from Clef and nearly dropped it as he went to eat a bite of it. "So what are you two doing today?" Samuel asked still out of it and a little distracted by his hair. The sun was up and the morning was still crisp. Samuel had never really woken up this early in Ponyville before.
"Oh sorry im a huge morning person," he said "it only takes a few minutes to shake off the grogginess,". He starts to get up from how full he was he walks through the grass and into his tent to tune his violin.
"Well I will be breaking camp after you two are done here. I am going to continue looking for my lost home." says Rasahll looking at a patch of dense trees, "That place over there seems a likely spot where my home would be located." he says after a while.
