Well that's good. Although, sometimes, it still helps to have some one not connected with you to talk to. Of course, I guess that could be us, but most of us don't have training in how to deal with such matters.
This is exactly it. I had to get the feeling off of my chest; especially when I can tell someone else besides a Therapist how my life really was. I'm not trying to take any spotlight whatsoever. I merely wanted to tell the story behind me, as a lot of people have done. Luprony told us about his condition, which he himself said he didn't want to do. Setzertrancer admitted his alchoholism to all of us. Sonic Bluefire admitted that he was addicted to drugs. And so much more; I felt that I had to let them know they weren't alone.
Hey man. I love you so much. Do me a favor real quick before reading the rest of this message. Take a gander at your name. You are The Saikyo Brony. You ARE the strong brony. YOU ARE AMAZING. Don't forget it. Now. You are strong. You've gotten off this stuff before, albeit in an unhealthy way, but this just proves that you can easily do it while staying in good health, at your peak of strength. I understand your childhood was very rough. You have two parents who failed to take care of you. Your mother abused you in ways that are unimaginable and your father just...seemed to not care about you. Both of these things are unacceptable, and your mom going insane isn't an excuse. I know you want to forgive them, but don't do it by ignoring the things they did to you. You're allowed to not love your father. Your allowed to not think your mother showed you love. No matter how much these things may hurt, acknowledging YOUR feelings (And I AM assuming here. I don't know your feelings, I'm just basing this off of what was said in your post) is much better than ignoring them. And through acknowledgement, you can truly forgive. You have to do it by letting their actions be in the past. Now, this is very difficult, but I think it's vital to help you get better. And you are STRONG. You are strong enough to forgive. Look at it this way. You've had a tough past. But your present is only made tough by the alcoholism. That means that most of the bad things that existed in your past have been replaced by positives. You already see that with your wife, and I'm sure she'll help you through this. But appreciating everything helps with this a lot. You already seem to be on the path to taking this advice. You know the past is the past. You know you have to forgive. I think you just need to know that you are STRONG enough to forgive. You are STRONG enough to LET the past be the past. And to let it go. Let what is driving you to alcoholism go. I know you'll be able to overcome this hurdle in your seemingly endless race thus far. You just need to know there's a finish line to keep you going.
