It's RIGHT THERE. All you have to do is print a stack, and give it out in school/college/institution in which you try all the time.
I don't entirely know what's going in that picture, but I don't think anyone in the fandom has those sorts of things in mind... ever.
If I had artistic talent/a tablet, there is a chance worse things would come of it. Or just random stuff. Besides, some had it in mind to draw it, no?
Wow I'm late joining this thread, but IMHO I'm on the side of to each their own. Most, if not all, of the fan works (art, fiction, whatever) have warnings or labels of what it contains. So if you don't want to read it or look at it, you don't have to. I agree with not restricting artistic license, but I don't have to like everything that gets made - I avoid looking for it. I like shipping when it's done well and enhances a story or it the main part of a good story. I avoid most of the grimdark and gore stories, it's not something I want to read or see; I understand though that there is an audience for this and some people do enjoy it. As for the rule 34 and clop art/writings. I don't have a problem as long as it's kept separate from the non-adult rated stuff. When my nieces come over and want to check out the new pony stuff with their uncle I don't want to run into things of that sort when they are around. I haven't had a problem keeping them away from it. People with have different ideas surrounding morality on these issues and that's good. What I don't like is when people try to shove their morals down your throat from their 'high ground'. I read most of this thread and am pleased to see this not happening.
This is good. Slugbox keeps his adult artwork on HF and Tumblr, with his dA being the non-mature stuff (last I checked/afaik). I like to convey my views with how I see things. I try to compromise with every ideal.
I'll be honest with you, SunBurn. I am rather disappointed in this, because it means you are disgusted in it, instead of being tolerant of it, but I guess it's easier said than done to change one's perspective on certain things. We tried, I guess. :/ UPDATE: Please disregard this. I spoke with him in Skype. It's my own faulty misinterpretation. I interpreted it as saying he was disgusted in both the people that enjoyed it, and the idea itself. It turns out, he meant only the idea does. My mistake! I apologize! As for me, I'm disgusted in gore, but I'm not disgusted by the idea of people being interested in it, a point I'll elaborate on further in this post.

I haven't posted in this topic myself yet, but I have read most of what's been taking place here, so I don't really have much to add except my own opinion, which, I'm sure, is just going to be a repeat of some others' opinions. If I posted in this topic six months ago, my view would've been somewhat different than it is now. Back then, I didn't even care for shipping, much less clop material. Heck, I even thought having a ponysona was a little strange for my tastes. Despite this, I never had any problems with individuals that liked that material. In my mind it was simple, "Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean I don't like you. I'm not disgusted by anyone that likes this sort of thing, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and they don't try to shove it in my face." However, the months have passed, and you can already tell on this very forum that one, maybe two, of those things have changed. 1) The ponysona thing. What's my avatar? My ponysona. 2) Shipping; look at my signature. That's a Pony x Pokemon shipping right there. Not only that, it's not an RP ship, it's a RL ship. The third thing, yeah, I'll admit it. I like clop material. I'm not ashamed to admit that. I used to not like it, but I've grown to enjoy it. Back then, I didn't think it was sick, and I sure don't think it's sick now. It's merely artistic expression of a mature nature, that's all. Now, just because one doesn't partake in enjoyment of it, doesn't mean they're immature. It just means it's not their cup of tea. That's completely understandable. I hold no hard feelings to those that don't like it, but I also expect, in return, no disrespect or bad feelings about those that do enjoy it. I'll give you an example of art that I do not like, and that's gore. I'd rather look at clop than look at gore any day, but that's just my personal preference. Do I dislike those of you that may enjoy gore? Not at all. As long as you don't force it in front of me, I don't mind. "To each their own" is what I say. I don't particularly care for grimdark fics either, but ironically I've read Cupcakes, Le Petit Four, Rocket to Insanity and Rainbow Factory. Why? The first one I read because I was curious about its infamy. Since the second was a sequel, I was also interested to challenge myself to see if I could read it. The third, being related to the first one, I also read. The last one was just by chance. I was participating in a voice conversation where the idea of reading it came up, so I listened. Did I "enjoy" them? Well, that's difficult to tell. I don't think "enjoy" would be the proper term. I tolerated them, but I didn't get a sense of enjoyment out of reading them that I would a shipping fic, or a clopfic. I don't mean that in a NSFW way, by the way. I think it just means that I'm open-minded enough to giving genres I don't particularly care for a chance before jumping to a conclusion. As for Sweet Apple Massacre, I've never read it. I read the plot summary of it, so I probably won't read it, as some of the content in it isn't to my liking. However, I don't hold any negative feelings for those that like it, or to anyone involved in writing it. It's fanfiction. Don't like it? Don't read it. It's not hurting anyone, even if the topic is, what many would consider, "messed up." As bronies, we have two main virtues; Love and Tolerance. In this case, the latter applies more than the former, but I think both hold value here. As far as I'm concerned, I don't mind what fan ideas you like or which ones you don't like, as long as you tolerate those that others like, even if you dislike them, and vice versa.
ePONY, How can you be disappointed in his opinion, sure he said he is disgusted by it. It's not like he went on a rant about how it's wrong or anything like that. He said that the idea disgust him, not the people into it. I see no problem with his statement or yours. I like when people share their true thoughts, unlike when people just agree with the popular opinion. Like me, I still support S.A.M., no I don't like it. It is probably a troll fic, but if that is how the writer sees it then more power to him. I shouldn't be allowed to tell people "oh, thats to gruesome to be an MLP fic" I have no right. I respect sunburn for saying what he thought, but I'm also not hating on your statement. I respect it as well, you are both just saying whats your real opinion is. As far as enjoying, clop, gore, grimdark, shipping. I have no real problem with any of it. I only read one true clop story, it was okay, had a nice twist ending I didn't expect. I love Rainbow Factory, that is one of my favorite fics ever. Of mare and magic, Best ship fic ever, it tore my heart out that the end.
Woah woah woah! You interpreted my post entirely incorrectly. That's not what I meant at all! I still respect his opinion. To me, it looks like he said that the people being interested in it disgusted him. Maybe I just read that wrong. I said myself in my post that I don't mind if people disagree with the ideas. Please, with all due respect, read my post and understand what I'm saying before replying to it like that. SunBurn and I happen to be friends. I'm very happy he shared his true thoughts, I never said that I didn't. Sorry if it looked like that. UPDATE: Please disregard what I said in my first post. I spoke with him in Skype. It's my own faulty misinterpretation. I interpreted it as saying he was disgusted in both the people that enjoyed it, and the idea itself. It turns out, he meant only the idea does. My mistake! I apologize!
*just read Cupcakes, Sweet Apple Massacre, Rainbow Factory, and That's Once (available at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7717411/1/Thats_Once)* *runs away screaming* Okay, so here's my official response. These especially gorey stories are my "bag", but the dirty stuff is kind of gross. Like the r@pe and mag-gag-gots. The rest I don't mind. I didn't like how in Rainbow Factory the author skipped over the actual death scenes. If you're going to write a horror story, don't do it half-flanked. Finish.
^ Does not realize that the very POINT of leaving it out is that no one can get the gore level right for the reader BUT the reader. You just fill these parts in and win. Besides, most good horror isn't about random gruesome deaths. That's what the slasher genre is for. A genre that dissapoints me greatly, but exits anyways. Take for example Lovecraft, King, and all the other classic horror writers. Gore? Actually fairly rare. Being scared for your sanity? Lots.
Out of Rainbow Factory, Cupcakes and Sweet Apple Masacre, I liked Rainbow Factory the best. It was actually well written and had a decent story. Cupcakes was just random killing and SAM was just so badly written it was amusing. The best fanfic I have ever read, however, is 'The Spiderses'.
*shrug* The version of Rainbow Factory I read was fairly crappy. And I do realize that only the reader can get the level of gore right for the reader. That's why I right horror fictions. My longest single-chapter story was a horror/romance with the perfect blend of action, fear, and description, but there still wasn't enough to get the number of reviews I wanted. Partially because nopony buckin' likes me :emo: and partially because it was posted in a high traffic category. It was on page three within a day. Nobody looks past page one anymore. Edit: *write, not right.
I hate gore pony pictures. I found some people who loves it because they think it is something funny. I don´t know what you think about it but I used to work in an ambulance and I have seen a lot of disgustting things in that work and I don´t think those kind of stuff are funny. It doesn´t mean that I didn´t love and tolerate it. I just want to express my opinion.
I don't mind the gore, but I don't go looking for pictures like that on purpose. I just finished reading someone's alternate ending to Cupcakes and someone else's continuation of that alternate ending and I was quite impressed. They turned it around very well. I think the goriest thing I've seen was the scene in We Were Soldiers when they're trying to get a badly burned soldier into the helicopter. They try to help the guy up and... well, let's just leave it at the other kids in the room made gagging sounds. No spoilers from this pony. I'm blessed with a Cast-Iron stomach.
Gore doesn't really do much for me either. Especially not when it's being described in print. If it's a film or a photograph showing all the grisly details and bits that you really don't want to see, sure it can be upsetting. But I've never felt outright disgusted or scared by gore of any kind. I agree with DanSze too: Good horror is almost never about death or killing. There are whole other entire genres for that, horror is completely different and is more to do with writing style than content. Twin Peaks? Nothing's gory or explicitly scary, yet because of the way it's filmed and presented it comes off as terrifying.
And this is why if I ever get an itch for horror, I watch a thriller. Cause those things are the psychological horrors of these days, since Horror has been populated by the gore mentality.
