I need to know the tempo (bpm) of the original Smile Smile Smile song. I tried a google search, but didn't find anything useful. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd like to get on this project of mine ASAP :)[IMG]

Forgot I had an app that can at least get me started. The beginning part of the song is actually 78bpm. I still need the tempo at the end. I'll check all your posts and see if I find it there. If not, I'm still looking (the part that starts about 2:30 in).

It's still in an incredibly rough draft form (and I haven't recorded the backing vocals yet), but here's a preview:
    http://youtu.be/TVUoj99LUoY

EDIT: Video does not have the end of the song's tempo. Maybe it's still 78bpm and just added an extra beat. That sometimes throws me off. I need to look more when I have some extra time.

Edit 2: Ha!! I'm an idiot. I don't deserve to be an autistic savant (I really am one, diagnosed) when I miss this kind of stuff. I threw in a drum beat that just didn't match. The tempo never changes, only the meter. Argh! Back to work :)

Sorry, I can't hear it. I tried but my phone distorted the crap out of audio. Dumb broken speaker.

It's already a bit distorted due to how I recorded it. Send me an email (jadenwalker at gmail dot com) and I'll send you the mp3 when I have a chance.

Last post I'll make here tonight.

At around 2:30ish, when it changes to the march, the bpm changes to about 80bpm. It's not 80, though, unless it gradually increases each measure. If so, I hate the writer! ;)

I'm just getting angry at it, now, and need to stop for the evening. I'll work on this more tomorrow.

In the mean time, if anyone can help me figure out the tempo towards the end of the song and what's really going on with it, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks everyone. Also, please let me know what you think of the little preview I posted.

The exact tempo for it is 78 bpm, but the song gets faster at the sad part

Any idea what the exact tempo is for the marching part at the end? Dreading playing trial and error with that section. Seems to keep changing tempos every few measures.

Edit: played trial and error. Ugh. At the march, it changes to 80bpm for 8 measures, then to 79bpm for 8 measures, then to 80 bpm until the end. That's awkward.

Here's the preview video. All the music parts are done. I just need to raise the cash for a new microphone (someone swiped mine) and I'll record the back vocals and be done. Still, very impressed with how it came out, so far. :)

    Opinions?

Wow. I post a link to the almost finished song and no one noticed ;)

Edit: Splurged and got a new mic, though it was a lot more than I wanted to spend. Today is a lyrics day. Should have this finished before bed tonight.

You should edit posts instead of triple-posting. If you want your update to get noticed, here's a trick you could use:

    1) Copy your previous post(s).
    2) Delete those posts.
    3) Paste them in a new post, and add your update to it.

Anyway, good luck with the project. I hope to see it finished soon. :)

My apologies. I'm autistic and can get a little excitable when working on something fun like this. I'll take your advice for future posting, thanks.
