She hesitated. "How do I know this isn't a trick?" she said slowly. "Can you prove that you've been tracking us? Maybe you just set up a disabling field and that's why I can't talk to him."
She sighed almost playfully despite the dread settling in her stomach and her trembling hands. "God, Eve... you need to stop flirting with me."
"You're not?" Ophelia replied dully, following her hesitantly. "Maybe you just haven't met the right person. You feel it too, right? This isn't just me?"
Eventually they made it to the base. It was just as cold and unwelcoming as before. She opened the door, allowing her into a completely bare, concrete room.
Ophelia hesitated in the doorway before turning to Eve. "Is it cool if I don't get handcuffed right now?"
She hesitated, looking back in the room. "Is he okay? Can you tell me that? It doesn't help you to keep that information from me, just... is he okay?"
