She nodded tiredly, leaning her head back. “That’s what I thought.” She was quiet for a moment before talking. “So... what do you remember?”
She raised an eyebrow. “You weren’t a part of it, Abel. You created it. The whole reason I went in instead of you was because we couldn’t risk having you on the front lines.” She paused, looking a little stricken as she pulled her knees to her chest. “I guess that was a bad plan.”
She hesitated, her eyes downcast. "We... well, we tried to explode the warehouse," she told him quietly. "This was actually the second time we tried. The first time... well..." She pointed to the scar on her neck from the whipping and gestured to him vaguely. "We were tortured by Eve. You have scars on your back too. You and I managed to get out, but we still knew that the warehouse needed to be taken down." She paused before sighing. "I told you that I should go alone. You fought me on it. Christ, Abel, you fought me on it. That's actually..." She hesitated as tears came to her eyes. "That's when you first told me that you cared about me."
She looked up at him and her gaze hardened and she swiped at her eyes. "Yeah, well... that Abel isn't around anymore," she said harshly, sounding like she was trying to convince herself more than anything else. "I just... I really thought..." She hesitated before clearing her throat and shaking her head. "It doesn't matter."
She laughed a little, looking up at him. "Abes, you're the one who is experiencing all this. You don't need to apologize."
She pulled her knees closer to her, saying nothing for a moment. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm sad. I really miss you."
"It's not your job to comfort me or to make me feel better," she replied. "I just... are you remembering anything? Why didn't you kill me back there?"
She exhaled, her shoulders slumping. "Will you wake me up before you kill me?" she asked, moving to lie on her side.
