She leaned into his touch hungrily, reaching up and setting her hand on top of his. Her eyes never left him and she moved his hand to her lips, kissing her knuckles gently. "I love you too," she replied, a sob in her throat. "I love you too, Abes. I love you too."
Her arms wrapped around him and she buried her face in his shoulder. Her entire body was trembling and her fingers brushed the back of his neck as she held him as closely as she could.
She looked so tired, dark circles under her eyes from the past nights of minimal sleep. She rested her forehead against his, her hand coming up to cup his jaw.
He stayed like that for a long moment before reaching up to her jaw and kissing her, his thumb brushing her cheek gently.
He rested his other hand on her back, leaning against the cot. He pulled away after a bit, his expression one of awe.
She tucked his hair behind his ear gently, her nose brushing his. "How much has come back to you?" she asked breathlessly, her eyes trained on his.
Her fingers were still shaking, but she traced his lips gently, her brow furrowed. "I missed you, Abel," she said quietly. "I missed you so much. I'm so sorry I pushed my plan forward. I thought it should be fine, I didn't think she knew where you were, I thought you'd be safe...""
She studied him for a moment before looking down, laughing embarrassedly. "I feel like I don't want to let you go," she said forlornly. "I feel like I'm going to lose you again if I let go of you."
She hesitated, resting her head on his shoulder. "You meant it, then? You meant it when you told me you loved me?"
She hesitated before pulling away slightly, squinting at his face and running her fingers through his hair gently. "I'm sorry. I'm being really indulgent. Are you okay? How are you feeling?"
He laughed, kissing her cheek affectionately. "I'm okay. However, I still think we should have gotten the floor bed. Cots are dumb."
She laughed too, tilting her head. "We could set them next to each other, maybe," she mused, looking over at them. "Or we could risk a trip back to the bunker..."
