Looking over her shoulder to see him did not seem to comfort her. She was still for a moment, before yesterday’s events caught up with her and she softened, tucking his hair behind his ear gently.
She exhaled slightly, placing a small kiss on his forehead before pulling away, getting out of bed and stretching her arms. She walked over to the opening of the nook, her hands on her hips as she considered the sunrise.
She looked over her shoulder at him, her dark hair almost brown in the morning light. “Hey, Abes,” she said warmly, returning to his side. “How are you?”
She leaned in and kissed his forehead gently. Her lips were cold but soft, and she squatted by the cots, looking down at him affectionately. “I’m okay.” She looked towards the outside again. “We slept for a long time.”
She hesitated, her fingers running though his hair gently. “Maybe you shouldn’t be doing anything right now,” she said, looking concerned. “What if you hit your head? Or what if you overexert yourself and it makes you lose your memories again? Or what if you hurt your leg and that makes you revert back?” Her words sped up a little as she listed off possible accidents, her gaze distracted and worried.
Her gaze flickered back down to him. Her fingers were cold too and she frowned, resting her head on the edge of the cot. “I just don’t want anything bad to happen,” she said quietly.
She hesitated, watching him in utter adoration, her brow furrowed with worry. “Do you... do you remember how she did it?”
She cupped his hand in both of hers worriedly, watching him nervously. “She can’t have thought that it would wear off, Abes. For some reason, she thought it would remain in your system.”
She looked down at their hands for a moment, her pointer finger brushing his palm. “I know you are,” she said quietly. “I know. I just... I’m frightened.”
