She laughed uncertainly, looking at him with a tilted head. "Well, then. You've succeeded." She gestured with her head. "Should we go back to the party?"
She turned to him, having regained some of her composure and placing a hand on his chest. "I'm going to go grab us another drink, alright?"
"I didn't like that," she confided in him, hooking arms with him again almost as if to soothe herself. "Can we go? Did I do well?"
He followed her, folding onto her arm gently. They made it outside, where the car was waiting, and got in. "You know, once we get home we can just relax and watch a movie, after I write down what you learned."
She looked over at him as they settled into the car and took off, her entire face reflecting her relief. "I'm so glad you're you," she murmured, leaning over at resting her head on his shoulder. She might have smelled a little like James' cologne, but underneath it was the comforting smell of her perfume, a sweet jasmine and vanilla smell.
