Max opened her eyes and relaxed her levitation spell, groaning at the new pain in her horn; she had pushed it hard and would need to rest it a little, or risk magical burnout. "Good job," She managed to say weakly, before closing her eyes and passing out on Ace's back. Luckily, the building whose roof they were on now was still being built when the bombs fell, and a crane had fallen over at some point since, smashing into the hospital across the road, and creating a makeshift bridge. They weren't far now.
"Max?" He said looking over his shoulder at her limp body "Great...." He then saw the crane "Even better" now they had a clear shot to the hospital...only the snipers also had a clear shot at then using it Ace frown and gently let max off of him inside what he assumed was going to be a broom closer a few floors down "I'll be right back" he said to her unconsence body He then bit his lip and gently kissed her forehead Before closing the door and marking it by putting a brick pile near it before heading back up to the crane and pulled out his gun
Clearly, whoever the ponies shooting at them were, Ace had already killed their best marksponies. Shots rang out as he approached the crane, but they all bit into the roof around him, or sailed harmlessly above his head.
"Fun" he said as he got ready to run "Three....two....one...." He then ran straight for the hospital as bullets harmlessly passed by him (Man these ponies suck) he thought as he made it to the hospital and quickly made his way inside
Compared to the town outside, the inside of the hospital looked almost untouched; it was still pretty clean, and mostly undamaged; it didn't look as though anypony had been inside her since the bombs fell. As Ace made his way into the hospital corridor, a turret at the far end swung round and began to fire at him. Apparently the crane crashing into the building had triggered some kind of defence system...
"Oh sh-" ace said seeing the turret swing around, only to be interrupted by the hail of bullets the came down apon him as he jumped to another room "Why can't it be easy" he said seeing if he could remotely hack it with his pipbuck
His Pipbuck had picked up a signal being broadcast by the hospital's mainframe, it read: Facility in lockdown following suspected attack. Hospital staff, Ministry officials and Military personal only; all unidentified ponies will be attacked on sight. Please register on the following page to avoid any issues with security. After that message, there was a login page, complete with sections for military serial numbers, rank, and name. The exact information that would be found on a set of dog tags...
"dang it!" ace said slaming the back of his head agenst the wall. it was light enough not to harm him but just enough to get a clear sound through to him *jingle-clank-jangle* "huh?" ace exclaimed as he looked down at his dog tags "oh.....right....duh" he said to himself blushing half happy that max wasnt here to see that as he started to put the info in
Processing... Records confirmed. Welcome Sgt. Ace. Access granted. The screen turned green, indicating that the security should now be friendly.
Ace smiled and stood up At first he stuck a fore hoof out to see if it would shoot him and it did not as he walked around looking for the hydra and more med x (We can loot the place afterward, first I need to treat max)
Aside from a few robotic ponies patrolling the corridors, the place was deserted, and all the medical equipment appeared to be untouched. The med-x and other drugs were easy to find, albeit locked away in medicine cabinets...
Ace quickly picked the lock and grabbed the hydra and med x He then made his why quickly to the crane
Max came to in the cupboard and looked around, groggily, trying to figure out where she was, and why her leg hurt so much. After a moment, it all came back to her, and she looked around in a panic; Where's Ace gone!? She asked herself, desperately. She could already feel the med-x wearing off, and she couldn't even open the door, much less stand up...
"Ok....no for this again" ace said as he stepped on the crane as soon as he did so the crane groaned "Should have seen that coming" he said right before he turned around and headed for the front door "I am not getting back on that" Once he walked he saw a skeleton with a bunch of syringes in her (Wait....how do I know it's a her) He then reathced down and looked at the ID tag to see if his asumption was right and he immediently dropped the tag and took several steps back The tag had a mare on it that looked exactly like max only she looked a lot cleaner
The front doors had been locked as part of the security measures, but the panel to override the locks was easily accessible from inside. The large number of pony skeletons outside suggested the doors were not as easy to open from the outside...
"Yesh" ace said grabbing the tag and walking to the panel control terminal It was a 32 character password "Hehe easy" he said as he started hacking "YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO BE BACK HERE SER. PLEASE VACATE THE AREA" a sentry bot said as it rolled over to him "Military override" ace said hoping that would work "MILITARY OVERRIDE AUTHORIZED HAVE A NICE DAY" he said back and went on with its patrolling Ace stopped and watched it go "Did that really just work?"
Just as the sentry bot rolled off, a little beeping noise confirmed that Ace had found the correct password, and the front doors unlocked.
Ace smiled and ran out the door to the building max was in Almost getting shot by the left over snipers
Max was still sat in the cupboard, looking at her pistol and wondering if she should use it on herself, when she heard the shots outside. Could it be Ace? Might he actually be coming back for her? Maybe things weren't as hopeless as they seemed... She put the pistol away again, listening for any more sounds and trying to block out the pain.
Ace made his way to the stair well and ran up it as fast as he could (I'm coming max hold on) he thought to her even though she couldn't hear his thoughts
